Securing an e-Bike with Panniers Attached

Two decent bike locks are the best way to thwart theft, even the thieves will tell you, two locks makes your bike a "walk by". When I go shopping I lock mine with a Kryptonite New York chain, and Masterlock street cuffs. The other bikes are locked mostly with cables, thieves love cables, they...

    Police Harassment

Where I live Motorcycle/bike helmets are optional by law. With that said, I rear ended a parked car on a motorcycle at 45 mph and cracked my helmet, my skull and brain checked out fine at the hospital. Helmets are incredible, they ward off wheel chairs and coffins. I also wear eye protection all...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I bought my Canon Rebel T2i in 2011 when they just hit the shelves, it has traveled in panniers on various bikes every bike season for thousands of miles. I fold a flannel shirt up and set it in the bottom of the bag with the shirt mainly up against the bike frame inside. The camera never gets...

Step over or step through for men?

I ride a nice City Commuter with a step thru frame. I got tired of crushing my testicles on those ridiculous top bars, now, no more crushed testicles :)

How many times have you heard "that's cheating!"? ?

I've never had anyone say anything that stupid to me while riding my ebike, yet;)

Is it important to you that your ebike doesn’t look like an ebike?

No, I think they look good. Most people give me compliments on mine. Sometimes the muscle headed road racers give me dirty looks, I just whip out a piece of red licorice, smile, twist the throttle and say hasta la vista baby!

Wired posits: 'are e-bikes doomed ?'

Our buses are now equipped with thick glass security doors, so the bus driver can seal off the front of the bus when under attack. People are attacking the drivers for being asked to pay for their ride, stop smoking, turn down the music, stop HOLLERING, etc.

Another twist to throttle vs PAS ebikes....Comments wanted...

Throttles are as right as rain and sunshine. Due to disability my Pedego has never been peddled once. I exercise daily, and have never used my bikes for exercise because they have always been a form of pleasure for me. I also use it to haul groceries, and gear on longer expeditions.

Wired posits: 'are e-bikes doomed ?'

Scooters and electric skate boards are starting to earn bad reputations where I live, mainly for pedestrians. I encounter scooters laying down right in the middle of the bike paths from time to time too.

I had to hop of my bike, get my camera out and everything else while it was still standing there. Then another bike came riding past me and off it went, these were the only two pics that were salvageable. Always fun to see wildlife :)

    E-Bike care - JUST DO IT !

In between washings I use a feather duster on my bike, it's fast, makes the next washing easy, and gets inside the spokes too. Otherwise I use a can of bike wash with a buffing towel, and wash everything ( otherwise called "wershing" for some :p.

We had a warm day on Wednesday, so I rode into the city. The bird was just singing away, adding to an already enjoyable day at the park. :)

Locks and Security Solutions for Electric Bikes

I've never been comfortable with many of the new bike racks they use now. Most only use simple 9/16" screws or easy to remove nuts to remove the rack right off the ground. Look at these, they tear out of the concrete because they use such wimpy hardware to fasten them down with...
