A hub motor bike shouldn't need an ebike rated chain because the chain has less load than even a pedal bike. If he's breaking chains there is something else wrong.

Weighs about 60 pounds. Bike needs a good saddle (and a suspension seat post would be nice too). Brakes need improvement. Kind of skinny tires, which is not a popular thing nowadays.

Yes, if the sticker that says it was built November 2021 is correct: 36v 10ah. I have been riding it around quite a bit locally and the bike works very well. Little bit clunky, but that's the cheap wheels. The motor seems to be really good right out of the box.

Sounds like the controller or battery's bms is shutting the thing down. The controller could because of low voltage on heavy loads, the bms because of low voltage of a group, or too high of amp draw. I'd go with the controller shutting down from a low voltage. Did you reset your controller's...
