Airtight is what you would want in a battery case to avoid condensation issues. Though that might cause other issues.

The problem is bigger than the batteries on Rad bikes, as it appears to be an environmental issue that batteries in the past were not designed to deal with. though something that was known about for years. To Rad's credit they did come out with their SafeShield batteries.

From what I infer from the above article is that the problem stems from water ingress into the battery. The pictured battery looks pretty much like what a lot of us use. So, really this is not an issue limited to Rad bikes. I guess not everyone has a bike shed.

This mid-drive was $350, which included shipping. I'd call it a beginner ebike. So bargains are out there, but it's definitely buyer be aware territory.

I'll make my mind up after I ride one. If they make enough of them and go under my chance of scoring one only improves. I still want want one off those hub less ebikes too. They just didn't make enough of them before they folded.
