    ACU / A100 comments?

Hi gang, I’ve been intrigued by the recent introduction of the Aventure M fat tire ebike. There aren’t any other new, mid-drive 26” fat-tire ebikes these days as it seems the demand has waned since COVID. Aventon seems to be the only remaining manufacturer that’s innovating in this space, in...

Light vs regular full suspension ebikes

The Trek looks like a nice bike, MrC. The Rail 7 Gen 3 is on closeout sale for 4K USD on the Trek US web site. Is that what you have? That’s a heckuva lot of great tech for the price, IMO. Does yours have the Bosch CX motor?

    Another new TQ motor: hpr40

Neat bike, that Ridley. Boy, the TQ is very stealthy. Lovely colors too, although I think I’d want to show off that carbon fibre without paint like the first pic.

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

Yup. Actually, I was wondering the opposite… What about “un”-powering his Trek? Is there any reason not to do that? I mean, in the case of my fat e-bike that would result in a useless bike, but can his Trek be ridden without power? I presume foofer already thought of that.

Dang, Charge. Riding through that must’ve been difficult.

This reminds me of one of my favorite movies, “My Cousin Vinny.” “Ya’ got mud in your tires.” :D That’s quite a mess o’ mud to slog through, @Aushiker . I’ve had some experiences like that on my Fättie although it was never mud that ended up slowing me down. In one case, the battery fire...

Buying a new old-stock Vado SL

@rochrunner Can’t imagine anyone warning you off one of these cool bikes, but my only concern would be to make sure the battery wasn’t charged to 100% and left that way in storage. Good luck.

Good luck with the transition back to leg-power-only, foofer.

    Aventon Aventure M

Being intrigued by the Aventon M mid-drive fatty, I found another worth investigating. Velowave calls the Brawny XM an eMTB, but I’m sure most of the eMTB riders out there would disagree. Anyway, while the Brawny XM is less well-equipped compared to modern fatties (no rack, no fenders), it’s...

    Modular Tool Boxes

If you want to feel better about your purchase, price out a Snap-On tool box. My son has one for his auto tools (he used to be a service professional.

:) Well, it was too much for me on one of those original, heavy, fatties, Chris. Like the Jeep Wrangler I used to own, I really wanted to love it. But no...

YouTube documentary: The Extraordinary Journey of the Bicycle

👍 I think this qualifies as the progenitor, then. I’m hazy on when I rode the Surly in Old Orchard Beach, Maine… There were one or two other brands out there at the time, but the Surly was the only one I got my hands on. It surly (misspelling intended :)) was a small market at that time...

YouTube documentary: The Extraordinary Journey of the Bicycle

Fantastic! All I can say is WOW. My friend did some research and it looks like this “Artic” bike was around 2004… I’m feel like I tried a Surly or something fatty before that, but it’s too long ago to be sure. All I remember is that it was so cool and so impossible for me.

    Lectric Trike2 750 throttle problem

Well, that’s great, Tom. Certainly if you move back to a bicycle you have a ton of choices. 20” fat-tire bikes are popular these days, and Lectric makes some of them. They are (relatively) easy to manipulate and handle (in general), especially the folding ones as they are all step-through...
