Yeah, he was in the big ring on a 10% grade. He's young. Teams usually report team composition a week or two before the event, and may make changes right up until the first start. Changes after that require permission from the organizer. I could see him as another Jay Vine, or the lead attacker...

It's OK to post spoilers here. Also, this was the queen stage. There's a dead flat 149km stage tomorrow. An outstanding ride by Del Toro, but I expect that from him. He's now leading GC. His post-race interview was classy and to the point. Luke Plapp rode his butt off to finish second on GC. He...

    Changing Front Chainring

Your shifting issue is probably caused by your chain being a few links short. That's what I see from this picture.

    A Question for Massachusetts E-Bikers

I live Mid-Cape and have ridden almost every rail trail here on two different Class 3 e-bikes. No issues whatsoever. The original post is 8 years old. Lots of things change in 8 years. As long as you are behaving yourself, staying at least close to the 15mph speed limit, and respecting other...

This is called "blocking". It's a dangerous tactic, but it can work for short periods. Most savvy riders can spot it a mile away and will yell out "they're blocking". This usually causes attacks from farther back, negating the effect. Another tactic is called "covering". If a marked rider...

At the amateur level, it's done out on the road between the riders themselves. You might agree to split primes (in-race prizes). You might agree to not lap the field, so that a fair sprint can happen between the break riders. These kinds of agreements are common, and enforced by the riders...

What Ras said. Most of the races I've won were won from the break or in a solo break. It happens more often in amateur racing because, no radios. There's also the concept of "marking". If you are a "marked rider", nobody is going to let you get up the road. The yellow jersey is a good example...

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

They could walk or ride an analog bike like we all grew up doing.

    My first Mid Drive

It's easy to tell. A good shop would not resell a fake.

My experience is with amateur racing, although pros were in the same field as me. In this situation, it's about tactics and the balance between risk and trust. If you spend energy chasing, will you make the catch? If you do, will you lose? If you sit back in the field and do nothing, do you...

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

Perfect. You are not training for racing with a coach that needs accuracy. As long as it's consistent.

    Winter Sucks

Hey, if you don't like American food, you don't like American food. But I 100.0% guarantee you, that what you ate in your three visits to America was not representative of American food. They were a sample given to you by others who were paying for it (minus the drinks). These places were their...

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

In my experience, drive unit power meters read low. I've also seen crank and pedal based power meters read high. The only way to be sure is to calibrate it with a known weight.

    Winter Sucks

Your opinion of America was clearly shaped by your hosts. a) You ate at an all-you-can-eat buffet. That is the low bar for American restaurant food. It is often populated with Americanized ethnic food like "Italian", "Mexican", and "Chinese". You might as well had gas station sushi. b) Plenty...

UAE Stage 4: lumpy with a flat finish. A four man break of DeBod (Modern Adventure), Gamper (Jayco), Steinhauser (EF), and Milesi (Movistar) put 2:30 on the field. With 1km to go, they still had 10 seconds, so DeBod attacked, but was caught at 250m (I know that feeling). Milan wins, Riley...

    Tern GSD - Safety Camera - 360 Camera (insta360/DJI/GoPro) OR Cylciq/similar?

The Garmin Varia RCT715 can be powered from an external source that will charge its internal battery. If your Tern has a USB-C port on the display that is designed to charge your phone, you can use that to charge the camera from your main battery. I have the older Garmin Varia without the...

You can also get organic brown eggs in the supermarket. There's no comparison in taste to the generic white eggs from the monster egg farms. This is what we have for breakfast.

    Winter Sucks

Yes. Brown eggs are local eggs. We have plenty of small farms, and local people who have layers and sell them at the farmer's market or in a roadside shed. You can even get local duck and quail eggs. What a country!
