Step over or step through for men?

I ride a step thru Magnum Metro. Problems with arthritis but I can still sorta swing my leg over and like Alaskan I sometimes catch the rack bag. My manual bike is a Reid (Aus) stepthru.

Serious bike on bike crash. Head on.

\ I hate the speed racer crowd when they show up on MUTs but despite the role speed played in the severity this crash I don't think it had much to do with causing the accident; I think the extreme multi-modal nature of the traffic on this path and the crowding in the area of the accident -...

Serious bike on bike crash. Head on.

Why speed limits on MUPs? Try this. This sounds like it would have been a lot less serious if the one biker were not going so fast. I ride here often, keep to 14-15 mph and get passed a ton. Hell, an idiot on scooter passed me the other day! I rode here the day after the crash and saw two radar...

    My buddy crashed yesterday

That's me as well. I'm not worried about ideal positioning with the motor for help but I'm a relatively frail 76 and want to be able to get my feet on ground right away.

Portable, medium-high security lock suggestions for new Magnum Ui6 appreciated.

Those are Wald baskets, I love them. Well, really like them; there were some problems getting them situated on my Metro. I carry a reusable grocery bag easily in each side, if they're particularly full I have a 15"x15" stretchy cargo net I put overtop to avoid losing something. Two months no...

    Good for Yamaha

They're sponsoring a 4 rider Team Yamaha E-Bikes in the Ride The Rockies event, this is the first year they've been allowed I believe. Yamaha gave each rider two extra batteries for the race. I didn't get a chance to ask the guy how they were handling recharging - or how they're going to carry...

Portable, medium-high security lock suggestions for new Magnum Ui6 appreciated.

I've got the Metro, came with QR front wheel and seat post. I've replaced QR with regular hex pieces and got a Foldylock Compact (https://seatylock.com) lock, just ordered Hexlox (https://hexlox.com) locks for front wheel, seat post and saddle. The Foldylock is 30" long, will not go around...

Denver Parks seeks rule making for "e-devices"

That's what scares me. I think this is a reaction to the e-scooter/bike dump Denver got last year, and the description of their process sounds off, somehow, to me as well as their over-broad definitions.

Denver Parks seeks rule making for "e-devices"

Denver Parks has established a 180 day "temporary rule directive" (why can't bureaucrats speak English?) allowing what they call e-devices on Parks trails until Oct 15, followed by a public hearing and rule making. "E-devices are defined as electric and/or battery-powered bicycles, scooters...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Learned to drive in a Nash Ambassador which was as big as the Metropolitan was small. Only real positive was the reclining front seats, perfect for teen age dating. Never expected getting an ebike to bring back those memories, thanks.

Magnum Metro user report 1 year later

Nice report, I'm a bit more than a month into my Metro ownership with no real problems so it's good to hear these long term reports. Totally agree about the "kick", I've found that a touch of throttle at stop lights etc gets me started gentler and it's easy to take over with pedals. It can also...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

It's finally greening in Denver, makes my Platte River rides a lot more enjoyable. Snowmelt is just getting going, probably not going to be able to ride the River while it's at peak - flooded underpasses. Here's the juncture of S. Platte River Trail and Bear Creek Trail. The River Trail crosses...

Research finds painted bike lanes can lead to closer calls with cars

I hate it even more when I have to get up on the sidewalk and then fight to get eye contact with the right-turners so I can go across the intersection; Denver loves to put ped/bike signals on far side of posts on sidewalks. I'd rather have the separate bike lane.

How many miles do you have on your ebike?

Steve here's a link to my report on the first month. My riding is paved paths for now, cruise at about 17-18 mph, freq stops/slowdowns for sightseeing. Pretty satisfied so far but still trying to work out/tweak a few accessories. I do think the rack sucks, didn't pay attention to it until I...
