Difference in braking on the Ui6 vs the Metro

No idea, but I know the hydraulics on Metro have saved my life once already when a car ran a stop sign and crossed in front of me.

    Two bikes stolen this year

Same situation in Denver, bike theft is a major contributor to our homeless/druggie economy. Happens in center of the City, in sight of legislators and bureaucrats who don't want to deal with it, huge chop shops in Civic Center Park. Facebook page is "Denver Stolen Bikes"...

Bicycle Friendly ? - where does your great state rank ?

Colorado here, #7. Not sure how they rate us A for Legislation & Enforcement unless it's relative to others. I'd be generous and give us a C.

I Will Never Buy from an LBS Again

Had a slightly different experience. I bought my bike from a local dealer; it wasn't the greatest of experiences. Gave me a 36v charger for my 48v bike, twice brought bike in for minor maint that was only partially done, head of Svc was ex motorcycle mech not even bike. They moved far away so I...

Denver to try contracted/permitted dockless stuff; current docked system shutting down.

There are also supposed to be public mtgs coming about using "e-devices" on Multi Use Trails but I haven't seen any notices...

Early season snow/cold supposedly has no forecasting connection

Denver had 107 straight hrs of below freezing temps and 12.5" of snow to end October. Mtns ahead of avg snowfall also, early opening for ski resorts. Still getting 50-60 degree days tho, so still riding.

    Winter e-biking advices

Gonna be a schizophrenic winter for me, first one on e-bike. Planning on riding down to about 35-40F, spent a fortune at REI, still need shoe covers and something else for hands - gloves inadequate for crappy circulation old fart. Took my niece's partner, an avid mtn biker, to REI with me for...

    I love my Metro+, but...

I've got the Metro, same inadequate rack. I don't need full panniers, ended up going with Wald baskets that I had to zip tie in place thanks to the bulge in the rack.

    Battery rebuilding in USA

Local (Colorado). It offers a pretty good range of services, seems to be cheaper than OM; I'm going for the 48v 16ah Dorado. Worth checking out if you're interested in longer range/new battery. https://www.hicbattery.com

Known Issues & Problems with Magnum Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

Haven't seen that one but my dealer gave me a 36v charger for my 48v Metro. Couldn't figure out why it wouldn't fully charge. Might double check your charger, I never thought about it.

    Chain stretch

Replacing chain on my Magnum at end-of-season tuneup next Friday, 2400 paved surface miles in 6 months by a 175 lb slowpoke - 13-15 mph - rider. My chain is in the same condition as Christob's and my cassette is also fine. And I should probably get a new avatar photo, one showing my e-bike not...

    Suspension Seat Posts

Thudbuster LT, got it used for 1/2 price. 175 lbs riding paved surfaces, not really worried about breaking it off.

    Flat Tires Perspectives: an invitation

I've got the stock Schwalbe Big Bens w/tube on my Magnum, ride almost exclusively on paved surfaces, MUTs and roads. 2400 miles, 1 flat at about 2000. I think Denver does a pretty good job of sweeping streets but with all the construction going on there's plenty of debris around. My puncture...

    Suspension Seat Posts

I tried it, threw it out. Side to side, front and back, it's like being in a rowboat in a Perfect Storm.

    Replacement headlights

Haven't installed yet, takes some rewiring, sorta worried about blowing warranty (6 most left) by messing with wiring.

    Kids' trailers

At a rest stop at Hudson Gardens yesterday I ran into a couple biking with their two children. Mom carried the youngest in a basket on the front bars, giving the kid a view of something other than Mommie's butt but I loved the older one riding in a WheeHoo trailer. It lets them pedal along or...

    Which locking device?

Went with a Foldylock Compact from Seatylock. Childish name, good product, lower in price than Abus. http://seatylock.com

Stay away from Racktime Baskets if you want a sturdy basket for a 28mph ebike !!

I've got Wald baskets also, no problems once I figured out how to mount.

    Suspension Seat Posts

Picked up a Thudbuster ST from my new elbs (Slo-Hi Cycle), took it for 30 mi test. Still needs some tweaking I think but riding it was as if someone had just resurfaced the path. My butt and back are in love with it. Even more because it had been on a demo for a month and I got it for $85.
