New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

It's also worth noting that recumbents don't have height adjustable bicycle seats.

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I think it could be made to fit, It's mounts with velcro straps. But it would probably interfere with your range extender. You could stuff a hydration bladder into almost any bag, including a pannier on your rack. Usually, a water bottle is enough for me. Especially if there are places I can...

Carrying photography gear on a ride

It looks like a frame bag and not a saddle bag, so it mounts in the triangle.

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I know you like your Pentax, but you could mount a GoPro on your bike. Or you could change your hydration system so that you can carry the camera in a backpack...

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

I agree with you, but I think that regulators will just decide that it is easier ban throttles. This will hurt those with disabilities, but I am sure there would be exceptions for mobility devices.

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

I don't think it has to be that complicated. Cars are not speed limited or limited in horse power and that is a safety feature in case they need to speed up to avoid an accident. However, car speed limits are usually enforced. Bicycle speed limits are not. The key to making ebike riders obey...

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

There are people who have lost their license (usually due to drinking and driving or other reckless driving) or who can't get a license because of vision or other health issues. Many of these people have turned to ebikes for transportation so that they can legally go about their business and...

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

I found it. Mine are the XTR SL-9000 shifters. I bought them as a pair from Universal Cycles in Portland in the spring of 2019 for $89. Now they want more than that just for one shifter. https://www.ebay.com/itm/177739916383?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28&google_free_listing_action=view_item

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

I have those shifters on my Disc Trucker. I bought them a long time ago though, so I don't remember where I got them. There was also an I-Spec adapter for them for the brake handles IIRC. I have the TRP Quadiem G-Spec brakes on the bike. I am on my work computer at the moment. I can check on...

I think you'll like the Trucker. I like them enough to own two of them. Steel is real!

    Prdecotech Outlaw Controller found

I am not familiar with a connector called a Big 9 Pin. That may be a Julet Z916A. 9 pin connectors are pretty common on hub motors. You can buy a connector pigtail to match your motor connector and hook up the individual wires to your controller. There will be three big phase wires, three...

New Jersey Would Be Foolish To Require E-Bike Insurance & Registration

New Jersey has set themselves up to fail just by creating a radically different policy than every other state. Will bicycle dealers have to register the buyer of a bike with the DMV just like car dealers do? Will they need new computer systems to do that? Will bicycle manufacturers have to...

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

They also are required on bikes that use regenerative braking. The cutoff switch is used to trigger the regen. Obviously that doesn't apply to mid-drive motors and most geared hub motors though.

He doesn't like them because he can't hide the wire inside the handlebars.

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

They obviously exist for a reason. I can't speak to the bikes you have owned. It is certainly possible to ride an ebike without one and many people do.

From Class 2 to Class 1. How "hard" is it to switch?

It is recommended for safety reasons, but many people don't use one. If the brake is on and you accidently press on a pedal with a torque sensor or touch the throttle, the bike will lurch forward. A throttle can also get stuck and pulling the brake lever will disable the motor. If your...

Also, words can't begin to express how much I loathe reading about politics on this forum. It sucks out all the enjoyment I get out of participating here.
