Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Damn. I just looked Ed up and he passed away a year ago in a cycling accident. RIP.

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

I had a 1970/71 Colnago Super frame restored in that color by Ed Litton. I never got around to building the bike though as the frame is a little small for me. I think I have all the parts to do that in my garage though.

Carrying photography gear on a ride

I use Ortlieb's QL3.1 system on my Ortlieb Office Bag that I use for commuting, which seems similar to MIK. It is not for security, but makes it very easy and quick to attach and remove the bag from the bike. On my Back Roller bags, I just use the older QL2.1 system and it is not that much...

Riders and lawmakers must understand the actual regulations and intent....

Who is really fighting for us though? We don't have a grassroots movement or organization to protect ebikes. I would donate to the effort, but who do we send our money to? I read that 15% of U.S. households own ebikes now. I don't know if that's true, but even if it is, only a small percentage...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

PAS is a generic term and cadence sensor or torque sensor is more specific. However, I think cheap Chinese bikes that use cadence sensors will simply list PAS as a feature and manufacturers with bikes that have torque sensing will call that out to differentiate themselves from the low end "PAS"...

    More ebike misinformation

It's not a definition. If you read the article, it seems that "fat bike" is a nickname used in the Netherlands for souped up e-bikes. It's not inaccurate. Most of the problem riders are on e-bikes that look more like a motorcycle with pedals than a bicycle. That doesn't mean that every rider...

    Winter Sucks

It's likely that people with no power still have some Internet access on their mobile devices. I live in the mountains where I have to use a network extender to get a signal on my phone, so that wouldn't be the case for me. And we get power outages here at least a dozen times a year. I bought a...

    Bafang 72v 3000w Rear-hub motor

The Atlas looks interesting, but it is not legal to ride most places and the weight is off-putting. "Total weight of bike with battery = 113lbs / Total weight of bike without battery = 83.8lbs". The Aventon Ramblas is half the weight and the same price range. Even though the Ramblas is a...

Rad Power Bikes warehouse catches fire

Yeah, my first thought was insurance fraud. But if they are already in bankruptcy, there doesn't seem to be a motivation for it.

I have a qlife eb13 48v bike and the display took a crap what ones are compatible with it so I can replace it??

Have you contacted the manufacturer to see if they sell spare parts? Otherwise it is hard to tell without knowing the make and model of the controller on the bike. And if it is not a well known brand (cheap Chinese controller), it may still be impossible to tell. If the manufacturer can't help...

    Flat pedal (no-pins) recommondations?

I have the EZY Lambadas on my wife and I's Bromptons. The quick release is very frustrating to use because I don't take pedals off very often and can never remember which way to twist it.

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

Well, just get the cable housing clamps and run the cable housing on the top of the downtube to the front derailleur. You can make the M8100 work. You don't have to use the braze-on cable guides. I cut the steerer tube myself with an inexpensive pipe cutter. It's good to wait to cut it until...

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

You could get some cable housing clamps and ignore the braze ons on the frame.

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

You could probably make it work, but it wouldn't fit the cable routing on the frame. I would get a road derailleur with a bottom pull. Mine is working with my XTR shifters.

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

Here is the installation instructions for the M8100. It looks like you run the cable housing directly to it. It is not a bottom pull. https://si.shimano.com/en/pdfs/dm/MAFD001/DM-MAFD001-03-ENG.pdf

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

I just looked up the M8100 and it only has a 10T capacity, so that wouldn't work with my crankset. MTA: It should work with your crankset though.

getting a regular bike after my battery fails?

That link doesn't work for me. I am using a Shimano 105 FD-5700 on the front. It has a 16T capacity and I have a 50-34T double crankset. I have a Shimano XTR RD-M9000 SGS in the back.
