Why are Bosch motors only 250 watts?

Good information. These regulations explain the difference in sales numbers between regular ebikes and speed pedelecs. When I checked the numbers of ebike sales speed pedelec sales are in thousands yet regular ebike sales are in millions. It is really simple, when a company already selling in...

Why are Bosch motors only 250 watts?

Unfortunately most of the time this is true. For these people 249W is underpowered 251W is a moped because bosch advertises 250w nominal. If tomorrow bosch comes with a 700W nominal motor you will see the same obsessive fans singing a different song. Not all of the owners are like these people...

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

Until @AbeK replies let me share my experience with my ST5. I can take it very close to 31mph on the speedo however after that you kinda hit the wall. Also your RM over-read your speed so when you see 28mph it is most likely in the 26-27mph range in the real world. If all you need is several...

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

Completely agree with all of these. On very hard braking rear wheel can slide. It happened to me too(a car coming on the opposite direction turned left on me), but each one of those I never lost control. That being said I think it can be prevented by getting used to the brakes and adjusting the...

    Regenerative braking

You shouldn't dismiss this feature. There are some big positives. Recouping is one, braking is another. Actually regen braking downhill is amazing. Instead of generating heat and wearing out brakes it recharges my battery. Mid drives can not do it. Geared hubs can be designed do have it, grin...

    Brake Bleeding Stromer ST5/3

So lately I had the need for bleeding brakes on my Stromer St5 which should also be similar for Stromer St3. The brakes are custom built by TRP. They are 4 piston brakes with great stopping power however since they are customized it may be a bit confusing to figure out how to bleed them...

Why are Bosch motors only 250 watts?

Let me again re iterate, for emtb applications mainstream motors are great, they are built for that. In technical climbs it is not only about the amount of power, it is also how it is delivered. Also I agree that some of the Chinese motors have inflated specs. They do it because of lack of...

Why are Bosch motors only 250 watts?

It is more important to establish the difference between peak and nominal power ratings. The definition of nominal is the power that can be sustained indefinitely, peak power is the maximum power that can be reached but for only a limited period of time. To keep a high speed one needs a high...

Check limit screw, seems like it is too tight.

Why are Bosch motors only 250 watts?

Because bosh is serving for the speed limited European market. These motors work well for such a market and emtb. Instead of coming up with a proper high powered motor true speed pedellec motor for US market they remove speed limit and sell the same stuff at a premium. Price discrimination is a...

    Frey CC

not planning to sell? I guess it is time for an offer you can't refuse. Joking aside, I really like x1 good components/power at a very good price. I am just a bit worried about the carbon frame, how is it holding up? Any quality issues ?

Bosch Class III pedelecs cut out at 26.5 mph

:) So true. I don't think the difference between gen 2 and 4 is drastic since it is only a couple of additional gears that are turning not the motor itself (there is already a clutch for that). The only reason why people are faster at lower assistance levels with gen 4 is because gen4...

Considering getting an ebike. How do I set my expectations?

Feeling natural has nothing to do with motor being mid or hub. It is about having a torque sensor and controller being programmed properly. Finding a good hub offering with a good torque sensor is harder, mainstream mid drives are all over the place. I have bikes with bosch Cx, yamaha pw-se...

    Chain and cassette life?

Give waxing a try, here is my thread ebike lubes it made a big difference in chain life in my mid drives and I have tried many different lubes. Conditions and where you ride makes a big difference. Waxing in many conditions keeps the chains clean. There is also the issue of miles not being a...

    Why

Yes it is a good paved road. I didn't know the condition of the roads you have ridden so my comment was only on elevation profile. That's why I mentioned mtb in my previous comment. With the right tires his bike should be fine on gravel but anything more, like your case, a mtb will be much...

    Why

This is part of a route I do regularly, 1-2 times a week. With pw-se, bosch cx and dd hub, on lower assist levels I do it around 30 minutes comfortably. If I push I can shave at least 5 minutes with any of those.

    Why

That is a pretty good bike. Your question is otherwise is ambiguous. Better in what way? If you are going to do mtb well you need a different bike, if you want to sustain higher speeds you will need more power otherwise it is a good bike. You can do anything mentioned in post #3 with that bike.

    Hydra cassette drive train .

While frustration is understandable and Pushkar should have told any possible changes beforehand, it is no excuse for foul language. In a brand sub-forum communication should be held as if it is being done in person.

Ebikemotion vs Fazua which is better?

You know what, in that case I would go for fazua. I don't see the point of a heavier bike with that speed limit and having the ability to take motor and battery off to ride it as is is a big plus.

SHOW us YOUR PIX here .... Odd, WeiRd ,UnUSuAl or EyE CaTchIng things from your rides

Is it still working ? If so shouldn't be a big deal. You can put it in rice to get rid of the moisture. Or you can open it up and dry it out with a hair dryer. Once fixed cover it with some transparent water proof cover to prevent it from happening again.
