New Stromer ST3 with Pinion C1.9 and Gates carbon belt

Finally. We have been asking for a pinion hub setup for a long time, with this setup it can finally be called maintenance free plus it will have a huge range. Since the belt is only carrying human input it should last a very long time. I wish they had this model earlier.

New huge battery and Concept Bike 2022

I like your light builds but I can't agree with this statement. Stromer feels great on the road, it is a great sporty ride and that's why on the road I am only taking my Stromer. It is true that Stromer is heavy but higher capacity comes with more weight, that is a fact of today's battery...

How to start on a steep hill

Try a larger rear cog so that you can not spin out as soon as you step on the pedals. That ultra should be able to start on much larger cogs compared to low powered mainstream offerings. Also don't count on trail access, I was on a biking trail which is wide enough for a truck, riding my low...

    Turbo Levo v Hydra

Mainstream mid drives are simply not powerful, your bafang ultra is way more powerful than these motors(it is also much heavier) as you have observed. Peak power is not the same as continuous power, (it is a burst of power that is not sustained longer periods). Your mistake is comparing peak on...

    Turbo Levo v Hydra

This is very good information and comparison. While your experience is what we expected from the given specs vs mainstream like brose smag/ bosch cx etc. , it is nice to see that this is true in practice.

    Quick-E+

Sorry to hear that your bike was stolen, I believe you were enjoying it quite a lot. On the other hand it is great to hear that your insurance company is replacing it. Between Explore and FastRoad it will come to your preference between 700c, front suspension vs 27.5 wheels with wider tires...

    Zen Shakti

Imo $200 for additional 170wh may not be worth it for your targeted price range and customers. 670wh is pretty good, a second battery option could be nice.

Heavy rider, very steep hills, not too expensive! Help please

The reason why EU cars are less powerful is because of taxes. Most of the time they are taxed by engine size. That is also why there are lots of turbo charged small engines in EU because drivers want more hp while paying as small tax as possible...

    Best bike chain lube video

I actually tried quite a few of those lubes and wrote my experience in this thread Ebike chain lubes. To my experience mucoff dry was simply not durable(less than 50 miles between applications). Dumonde is much more durable(100-120miles between applications). None of them was good at prolonging...

Watt Wagons Ultimate Commuter 2 rides 175 miles now 1075 miles, more than 2 rides

@opimax Good to hear your experience. I really like the titanium frame and it seems to have a ample power. I was curious about your impressions since you have experience with higher powered class3 bikes. Other than torque sensor activation force being on the high side, how is the smoothness...

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

Hmm I have changed my bars with success on my Bosch mid drives. As long as your cables are long enough it is pretty straightforward. Also lately I have been using these I put them right in between the brakes and the grips. They work quite well as innerbarends. They are short but still...

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

That is a waste of money for your purpose unless you believe that riding a 42lbs bike unassisted at 32-33mph is a big feat. Instead just get a badassbox, some faster rolling tires and maybe innerbarends for your current bike.

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

I always tried to keep an open mind. Though I already had bosch and yamaha mid drives I still went to try out ST3/ST5 one day and here I am. So be careful. In terms of exercise it is all about how much you put in. On my exercise rides I keep it on level 1 (the lowest setting) and can still...

ST5 owners - Can you maintain 28mph for whole battery?

I will try this when I can but I am almost positive that I can use S mode well below %40. Are you sure it was not because of thermal limit, it is conservative and S mode dials back to 3 when it hits the limit.

Heavy rider, very steep hills, not too expensive! Help please

Linklemming's formula is correct. You are taking the ratio in the wrong direction. In my post I have derived the formula in case you are interested. Your driver is your chainring and the cog on the wheel is driven.

ST5 vs Riese & Muller mid drive for hills

Once again @AbeK summed it up perfectly there is really nothing to add to that. I also agree that FS mid drives like yours and Abek's are fantastic tourers. The problem with 30+mph is it is above 28mph so no legal bike will give full support at that point. Above 28mph ST5 has a milder...

Heavy rider, very steep hills, not too expensive! Help please

We can easily derive the needed equations, I hope this clears things up. If Power was perfectly preserved(assuming no drivetrain losses), (Torque at the crank) x (rotational speed of the chainring) = (Torque at the wheel) x (rotational speed of the wheel). => (Torque at the crank) x...

Why are Bosch motors only 250 watts?

You know, I stopped responding to some posts because I realized that the communication was too similar to what you would have with an online banking "chat bot". At some point in the conversation, you reach a point that contradicts or outside of the set of pre-implemented responses/conclusions...

    Frey CC

Definitely get a good stand, it is hard to do the adjustment without a stand. As has been suggested you have to loosen (turn counterclockwise) the the low limit screw. It is a similar problem. At this point you may do the adjustment from the beginning. You can follow this guide, it does a good job.
