    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Need to digest this graph. How did you get motor power? Excellent! I'll try, too. No simple formula, but I have a spreadsheet that correlates well with my favorite online calculator by Steve Gribble. To get ground speed Vg from rear wheel power, you have to solve a cubic equation in Vg...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Why? Because I find it an interesting lens on riding my SL. If it doesn't interest you, please feel free to ignore.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Wish they'd publish detailed info like that for my SL 1. Below is a graph comparing the official SL 2 tables of Prs values for regular and dynamic MicroTune modes to the predictions of my simple linear model. E is on the horizontal axis, and Prs on the vertical. Revised the linear model to use...

    Jeez, what a spoiler! Came here fully prepared to hear Stage 5 race results but totally unprepared to hear about attack kangaroos. ;^}

Any updates on his status or the cause of the crash? Those are potentially life-changing injuries. And entirely consistent with the way he was grimacing and holding himself in the early footage.

Hope everyone stays safe. This huge storm from New England to New Mexico may test the wisdom of the recent deep cuts to FEMA.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Those tables are NOT consistent with my simple, steady-state model of the Specialized power-sensing assist. Will have to delve into that. Based my model and the boost B = 2.3 for the 1.2 SL motor on official Specialized documention put out prior to the SL 2, when the Creo 2 was the only bike...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

I like this way of looking at it!

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Correct. Below saturation, motor power Pm depends on assist mode E/M only via E, and above saturation, only via M. Since E = M = 20 in the 20/20 case, you'd necessarily saturate at rider power Pr = P1 = 139W. Motor power would be Pm = B Pr (E / 100) = 64W, where boost B = 2.3 for your motor...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

EDIT: Please disregard this post. See post #28 below instead. I have a number to help you know when your SL 2 saturates — i e., reaches the motor power cap in a given assist mode: P1 = 139W This might come in handy during your experiments, cuz once the motor's capped, you've entered a new...

Psychology question Riders are smiling and chatting away, looking very relaxed, during Stage 3's long 30-minute controlled start. Yet every single one of them has hours of suffering and severe mental stress ahead. Mentally, how important are these chances to calm down and socialize ahead of the...

Just started the Stage 3 replay. According to the commentator, Sweeney said that he was doing 600W when Vine just rode away uphill on his final attack for the Stage 2 win. Yet, if you saw Vine on the street and didn't know who he was, world-class athlete would never cross your mind.

As in previous race threads, I think the rules should be: o Feel free to discuss race results at any time. o Don't come here till you're ready to see them.

Congrats! Eager to hear your first impressions. That IS a very nice blue. Sounds like we're both pretty color-motivated. Not sure what you had to give up to get that color, but I tend to give color more weight than it's logically due. And I'm usually pretty happy with the result.

    Flat pedal (no-pins) recommondations?

Following this thread with interest, as I'm in pretty much the same boat on my Vado SL. Over the last 2 years, my legs have gotten much better at steering clear of the pins on my current elongated Rock Bros MTB pedals without conscious intervention. But they still get bitten now and then —...

From a 25 mi, 1,500 ft hill and coast fitness ride several days ago. Still working off the Holidays. As an enticement to climb, the route strung together several favorite local descents. First stop, a favorite overlook at the top of the ride. Thanks to our ongoing Santa Ana winds, my clearest...
