    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

I should have been clearer. My Px is the max motor power available at M = 100. To my knowledge, this Px varies only with cadence and choice of motor. It's supposedly independent of E, M, and Pr. In the official SL 2 Prs tables in question, Px = 300W at 80 rpm. Amen to that. When I get a...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

We have to be careful here. @Stefan Mikes and I are using "boost" in significantly different ways. For now, we'll stick with his boost, which is just the average slope S of the pre-saturation ramp in the Pm vs. Pr plot. Whether or not the ramp's a straight line. Spec led us to believe that the...

Good work. I'll have to mull this over.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Or so it seemed. Sigh. Like you, beginning to wonder about those official Prs tables for SL 2 MicroTune modes. The E-dependent fudge factor that corrects model Prs predictions for the dynamic M = 100 case DOES NOT correct predictions for the static M = E case. Makes me doubt that we'll be...

I keep giving your ride posts 😍s because the photos and place names keep stirring nice memories of our Bay Area days. Please keep 'em coming!

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

I'd normally want to see much the same in the saddle (except pedal balance). But now I have some detective work to do. Won't hurt to add a TCU page for now, but I generally want just 3 to flip through. Spend 90% of my time on this TCU page. The 50/50 is the assist mode.

Speaking of color schemes, walked past this African flag today. Another beautiful orange! Funny what you can and can't get away with in color schemes. Nature more than gets away with intense orange and green here, but I wouldn't be eager to see it on a team uniform.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Interesting way to look at it. Personally, since I have a Pr (rider power) readout on my SL's top bar — and am getting to know what 100, 150, 200, 350, 300W, and so on feel like — I'd much prefer to see a straight percentage of Pr. Now, if I wanted to add a TCU page, I could see Pr, Pm, and...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Nope, the ACE is totally disconnected from the bike now and only provides GPS services on the bars. And it's very good at that. That way I get the superior ride data and analysis I much prefer from the Specialized app running on my phone safe in my pocket. Everything else I normally need to see...

Vado SL 4.0 Deore drivetrain upgrade suggestions

VERY impressed with the drivetrain expertise on display in this thread. Learning a lot. Eager to see the OP's results.

Totally green with envy over that adventure and those trails! Great photos and commentary. I understand that rattlesnakes get extra street cred from their peers for landing strikes on passing cyclists. Could be the same with gators.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

All commitment to true understanding seems to go out the window when marketing gets involved — no matter how much it makes the engineers cringe. But as a way of conceptualizing motor control for the average user, Spec's 4-parameter (E, M, Px, and B) scheme seemed to make some sense. And...

I also pay a lot of attention to color — more than I should. Every color has its place, and I really love orange, but not a fan of that light coral Ineos picked — at least not in that context. Keep hoping that some team will pick up the gorgeous orange of the cape honeysuckle I'm lucky enough...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Just for the record, the term pedal assist system (PAS) started out, at least in the engineering literature, as a much-needed catch-all for ANY kind of pedal assist — cadence-sensing, torque-sensing, power-sensing, you name it. And I think PAS is still most useful as a generic term. But many...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Don't feel bad. It's having the same effect on me, and for better or worse, I DO have the head for this stuff — apparently in exchange for lots of other things I definitely DON'T have a head for. Guess that's why the universe invented division of labor. Constantly astounded at how good a...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Buckle up, Specialized nerds! Went back to my linear model based on official pre-SL documentation. Here are 3 screen shots of the interactive graphical version at https://www.desmos.com/3d/6stdwngjmq Here's the setup. Px = 300W is the SL's max mechanical motor power at 80 rpm cadence. B = 2.3...

Hard to see a rational explanation for Plapp's recent behavior. Acts like a foolish wild child who won't be tamed. But how does that coexist with the discipline and personal sacrifice and racing savvy that it must take to become a World Tour rider in the first place? Could he be fired for these...

Exciting final 12 km of Stage 5! Hope the kangaroos are OK. This was my 1st TDU. Great racing and seemed well-planned for all concerned. Will definitely be watching next year. Do riders like stage routes (like this Stage 5) with many reps of the same circuit?

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

OK, I see what you're doing here. Clever use of the dynamic MicroTune table! For each E, you can extract the slope S(E) of the chord of the Pm vs. Pr curve between (0,0) and the saturation point (Prs,Px), where Px = 300W for the SL 2 at 80 rpm. These slopes increase nonlinearly with E. Even if...
