Really enjoyed that video. Beautiful country. What a delight she is — and what an inspiration!

Easier upgrade than I expected — not that I know anything about brakes. Was this prompted by all the 20% descents around your home?

2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

As of a few years ago, it was difficult and costly to take all of the excess blue out of "white" LEDs. The truly white ones were reserved for uses where the lack of blue was worth the price.

Sodium vapor used to be everywhere in outdoor lighting here. LED technology is clearly taking over, but I can't say by how much. What I can say is, if bluish white is what it takes to burn less carbon in the name of outdoor lighting, so be it.

All I can say is, on many (but not all) fronts, the more I learn about UK, the more it sounds just as screwed up as the US — and for similar reasons.

Very impressive win for your friend, @Stefan Mikes ! And truer words were never spoken. Can't tell you how many things in my life would've ended better with more omelette. ;^} Seriously, though, was he saying that he didn't nourish himself enough along the way? As pointed out quite clearly in...

Wahoo ELEMNT Ace (on Specialized E-Bikes)

As a fan of maps in general, very happy with the map layers I get with RideWithGPS Premium. Being heavily into the geology and pre-development physical geography of the places I ride, favorites include the satellite, USGS topo, and offroad layers. The USGS topo layer is great for old place...

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Ever wanted to try a TdF training route, just to see what a monster you really are in the saddle? Or more like it, what monsters Tadej and his UAE teammates are? Good thing I don't measure my self-worth in W/kg.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Glad you had a chance to try out your new SL 2. Sounds like your evil scheme is working. I find that E/M = 10/10 on my SL 1 gives little if any real help, and the motor sounds confused. Not much better at 20/20, but a BIG jump in perceived assist at 30/30. Sounds like the SL 2 might be...

2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

Took the missus on her biggest climb yet this morning — roughly 60 ft/mi over 5 mi with several stretches of 6% or steeper. Our ebikes from an earlier ride. As usual, she and her blue 750W Velotric Breeze left me and my 240W Vado SL in the dust. When I asked about the climb at the top, she...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Encouraging. The fanciest 3D printed Spec saddles even pricier. Realistically, though, the next $500 of bike money I get my hands on will have to go to a range extender (my first). Maybe a cool 3D printed saddle once the CFO's racked up about double that in Amazon orders.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Love the way these Fizik and Spec 3D printed saddles look, and the engineered compliance and total ventilation seem really smart. But at those prices, what happens if they don't work out?

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Before taking delivery, I reduced my SL 1's stock 44t chainring to a narrow-wide Wolf Tooth 40t. Easy swap, no chain drops in 3,200 mi. With the stock 12-speed 11-50t cassette, the gearing's now 22-99 gear-inches. For my legs on an SL 1, that's a good compromise between climbing and descending...

Pretty sure it was this one: https://www.sq-lab.com/en/us/products/ergonomic-mtb-saddle-611-ergowave-active-2-1-57230-2024?variant=46917265883368 SQlab makes high-quality saddles, has a good return policy, and superb customer service. This one takes care of the perineal and coccygeal pain on...

I also envy those walls of beautiful blue Park tools. The other thing I'd wonder is who I'd get to put them all back on the wall.

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

Took 6 saddle tries to break the 30 mi butt pain barrier on my commuter. Thanks to REI's generous return policy (full refund after plenty of time for a good trial), 3 of them cost me only some time and gasoline. Well, more than that actually, cuz I NEVER get out of REI without buying something...

    Turbo Vado 2 4.0 or 5.0 or 6.0?

That's what I paid for my 2022 in 2024! This is starting to smell like manufactured scarcity: Hold back some NOS on models with a strong niche following and trickle them out at full price.

    At first, I thought it was a warning about the ride profile ahead. Cyclists wouldn't be expecting that in otherwise flat Mazovia. ;^}
