New High Torque IGH announced by 3x3

I took it for a spin and it works great! The rear wheel is rock solid, there is no any wobble (my Kindernay VII had some freeplay). I also feel like this gear hub noise level is lower than Kindernay noise level. So far so good.

New High Torque IGH announced by 3x3

The installation is complete. Will see how it performs. For the cables housing I used 4mm Jagwire lex sl cable hosing https://www.amazon.com/dp/B002AGI5I6?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title For the cables caps I used these 4 mm aluminum caps...

New High Torque IGH announced by 3x3

Yes, only their expensive rotor fits it, just like Kindernay XIV. If it will become popular maybe someone else will make different rotors for this hub (I know there are non Kindernay brake rotors for Kindernay XIV for instance). The rotor is pretty thick so maybe it will last longer than...

New High Torque IGH announced by 3x3

One screw for the torque arm is missing. There should be 10 of M4x10mm flathead T20 screws and I found only 9 in the bag with fasteners. That would be nice if they would put extra fasteners just in case especially for such expensive kit. McMaster has such screws in back-oxide finish but those...

New High Torque IGH announced by 3x3

The wheel is complete and it is heavy as hell. I hope this heaviness reflects the durability of the gear hub. Now the most annoying part, removing the Kindernay cables and installing the 3x3 cables

New High Torque IGH announced by 3x3

My Kindernay VII last probably 7000 miles or so. The electronic shifter can be installed instead of the mechanical shifter, it replaces the cables with rotary shifter and the mechanism attached on the brake side of the hub. If you want to replace the mechanical shifter by the electronic shifter...

Started lacing the wheel. Decided to use DT Swiss SKN03 2 x 16 mm brass nipples with SpokePrep instead of the recommended SAPIM POLYAX 14MM 14 GAUGE SILVER LOCKING BRASS NIPPLES. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004Z7R4CQ?ref_=ppx_hzsearch_conn_dt_b_fed_asin_title_1...

Archon X1 Programming Thread (questions and experiences)

I designed a cheap version of the AMPLIFIER board for regular copper weight (1oz) and regular through hole vias (the original design of the AMPLIFIER board with heavy copper and blind vias is quite expensive) and this cheap version it is about $2 per PCB if you order 5 of those on JLCPCB...

The motor with controller CAD model can be downloaded or checked on the GrabCAD https://grabcad.com/library/vesc-for-bafang-m620-uart-1 You can use it for reference to see the cables connections and proper cables routing. The motor controller area is precisely reverse engineered and can...

Sure. Here is how you can connect ST-Link 2 externally outside the motor for firmware flashing so you do not need to disassemble the motor and even do not need to remove the motor from the frame (you can route the cables under the side plastic cover of the motor). Here is the list of parts you...

Here is the PDF file with vector graphics you can use to cut the bulk capacitors isolators to prevent the possible shortage. I laser cut it out of 1mm thick copper free fiberglass sheet https://drive.google.com/file/d/14d18sFwrkxN2z1Q6j6HZj665NP37Lye1/view?usp=sharing

I prepared the files for 3D printing you need to print for the VESC for Bafang m620 UART controller. I recommend to use ABS plastic and 100% solid infill for the parts. The archive with the parts can be downloaded here...

The Future of eBikes: How Fast is Too Fast?

Do you remember the coronavirus era laws? The people who made all those laws and restrictions believed they do good stuff making all those laws and restrictions. But it made only their personal life better, not the whole society. You might be OK with e-bikes restrictions and limitations and...

The Future of eBikes: How Fast is Too Fast?

Some people mistakenly think that if you do not have a licensing system for e-bikes you can kill people with e-bikes without legal consequences - it is not true. The same people mistakenly think if they will have licensing for e-bikes it will make the society life better - it is not true too. It...

The Future of eBikes: How Fast is Too Fast?

If it is not an argument for not having laws then it is not an argument for having laws. Have you ever asked yourself why some laws exist and some do not exist? You can wish to law as much as you want but if the law does more bad than good this law will not exist. And regarding those death...

We need either allow motorcycles on MUP or do not equalize electric bicycles, scooters, skateboards, one wheelers etc to motorcycles.
