Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

I was climbing up about a 35 degree hill and wanted to see how it would climb in g5, in retrospect I probably was putting pressure on the Rohloff. I havent had any issues with shifting and will use your sage advice next time I ride home. Yep, that darn hill is on the way to the house.

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

I am shooting an email to Ravi. Originally I wanted the bike to come with a Sram 11 speed gear set but Ravi talked me out of it. I just took the bike out after 3 cups of coffee to see what it can do by pushing up the power. In g11=17mph, g12=18.x, g13=19.9 g14=21. Now this was at power level...

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

While this certainly sounds like a great solution, I am a little worried that making this change will void my warrant. The trial period was only 10 miles and I have about 30 miles on the bike now. I will shoot a letter to the president of Zen bikes telling of my desire to go to a 20/60 set up...

All i have here in terms of measuring tools are carpentry focused measuring tapes. I can go into my little town‘s hardware store to see uf they have anything ore accurate or in cm. 20/60 is still 3.0 which is better than I have as far as top soeed us concerned. What do you need pictures of?

Just got up and had my coffee. This looks like the answer. Going out to check measurements. Only have inch info but can go to the local hardware store ia few hours to see if they have a cm tape.

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

Good question. If we are planning a 50 mile day before we get to the next town to overnight and recharge, I have found that I need to typically be riding the flats in level saving the current draining levels for the climbs or I run out of battery too quick and riding an 80lb bike with no assist...

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

Scambler, that is pretty consistent with what was happening. If I want about 18 mph on gear 11 at a cadence of 60, what changes do I need to make to the front and rear cogs?

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

I wasnt counting my cadence on that first ride but found myself quickly being fatigued and working hard to maintain 17 mph in gear 14 and assist level 1.

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

One thing about e-bike rides up here is that they run into hours vs just a short ride.

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

I am really appreciating this great advice. I just connected up an older bike computer and took the bike for a 15 mile ride. While I did a cadence of 70 several times, my sustained cadence was closer to 60. That comes as no big surprise to me as my 78 year old legs ain’t what they used to be...

Just checked the bike it is a 55/22 set up like Jeremy suggested. Oh and my wife‘s Aventon bike with a 750watt rear hub motor and only 50Nm of torque flat ran away from me.

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

Great questions, thanks! Ideally I would like to be cruising in Rohloff gear 11 @ a cadence of about 70 and going about 16 mph. My legs are relatively strong but not so fast. I can maintain a 60-70 cadence without much trouble. My previous e bike was very light Salsa touring bike with a...

Bafang to Rohloff belt drive question.

It appears that my Zen Photon Ultra current belt drive set up is geared to low. Gear 1 is ridiculously low and I find myself riding in gear 14 just to barely maintain a touring speed of 16mph. I would like to be cruising in gear 11 but the pedal rotation speed is beyond my capabilities (must...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

interesting, how tall are you.? I found the Photon made me sit up straighter than I wanted. I changed the stem and after a 20 mile ride today am going to change the handle bars. If you have sitbone or numbness issues, look into a bi saddle.

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

I don’t like sitting straight up for a number of reasons. It feels a little awkward making tight turns and my sit bones get sore pretty quickly. I typically prefer my handlebars 5-6 inches above my saddle height. This gives a slight leaning forward effect and hand and wrist fatigue are...

Evelo Omega vs Zen Photon Pro for next E Bike

I did buy the Zen Photon Ultra and found the handlebar to be a little too high for me. The stem was adjustable but was bit too long and lowering it meant moving the handlebar too far forward. I bought a new stem with a shorter adjustable shaft and will try that. I like leaning forward a bit...
