    Best E-Bike Conversion Kit?

Based on the terrain around here, I would be very interested in the DM01 in 1000 watts. How reliable have your builds been? How about upgrading the controller?

    Best E-Bike Conversion Kit?

I have a Salsa Fargo that I have been riding for about 8 years and the bearings are making noise and my battery is not what it used to be so it is time to rekit the bike. (Bike is still in great condition). I live in the mountains so torque and power are critical to me. I have had no issues...

Why Charge to 80% and the use of smart BMS in Zen 52V,20Ah UL-2271 battery

It is still below freezing at nights but in about 2 weeks I should be able to plug the batteries in and will monitor it at the hour point for a couple of hours.

Why Charge to 80% and the use of smart BMS in Zen 52V,20Ah UL-2271 battery

Looks like a sound approach. From Ravi’s post I assumed there was a way to preset the charge stop point. I will order the timer and try it. Is the recharge rate relatively level or do I have to determine a curve based on the level of charge left in the battery?

Why Charge to 80% and the use of smart BMS in Zen 52V,20Ah UL-2271 battery

While I am not an E-Bike battery expert, I do store my battery indoors (garage temps drop down to 15 degrees F ) during the winter and they are charged at around 80%, If I fully charge my Zen bike and take a 25 mile ride in very hilly country it is about 80% when I stop. How do I set my bike...

    Need new bike advice

I have a zen photon ultra with a bafang m620 and a rohloff rear axel. While I have read that set up is supposed to be the cat’s meow, I really don’t like riding the bike. The rohloff seems to be perfect for a bike used for carrying a rider and lots of camping gear but it feels like I am riding...

    Need new bike advice

It is a dirt road leading up a mountain. I haven’t seen any tour de France riders on it. I used a level and a carpenters tool to measure the incline, might be off a few degrees but the hill is steep if you measure it by the number of young mountain bike riders in their granny gear or walking...

That is a great idea and I plan on doing that in May or June when the ice is gone.

    Need new bike advice

Mike, unfortunately the only dealer for Husqvarna that is within 150 miles of us is in Boise Idaho. They are currently focused on winter sports and didn’t have an MC5 available for a test ride. I haven’t disregarded it, but being surrounded by 5 feet of snow and ice I am still looking at what...

    Need new bike advice

The BBSHD has some bearing issues and is a definite candidate for replacement on one of the bikes. The Zen is plenty powerful but very heavy. With the battery in place it weighs somewhere around 85 lbs. My wife’s Aventon weighs about 55 lbs. I am looking for a bike that is easier to...

    Need new bike advice

I am looking for what seems to be the impossible. At 80 years old I live in relatively mountainous country but still love to ride my bike. The only road that leads up to our home is a very steep (maybe 25 degrees) and long dirt road. My current e-bike can go up this hill but only in the...

Need an E MTB for an older person

The video certainly looks good. While I know Dad would probably like a step through, I think this one would be worth a test ride! Thanks. I have read a little about dual motor/dual battery fat bikes but they seem to be pretty heavy.

Need an E MTB for an older person

I am riding with my father who is very close to 80. His balance is great and we ride a lot of fire trails. His bike is an hard tail with an M620 motor. He seems to be doing pretty darned good but when we hit a steep long climb I get worried about his heart. Is there a more powerful full...

    Dual Powered E-Bikes…Worth it?

What an amazing write up…thank you! Not only did you teach how to build an awd bike but you explained a lot about how and why my current bike is acting. I am not really interested in an electric moped or scooter but just a little more power assist as I pedal up a steep hill. I do need the...

    Dual Powered E-Bikes…Worth it?

If I rebuild a bike then it will be with a BBSHD. I am not familiar with the Chinese dual powered bikes on Amazon. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a vendor in the US or Canada and if I could get their thoughts.
