Brake Wear Question -- Is it possible...

You need a cheek spreader. Spread the pads before you remove them. This allows for the added thickness of the new pads, pushing the pistons in. Clean the area well before touching. This saves messy hands but also contaminants from following the pistons in and messing with the seals. A four pack...

New to the Group - Looking for Gravel Friends in the Bay Area

Once I took a rootbeer brown 1970's Raleigh three speed up a fireroad from MV to the top of Tam. Sure am glad I have motors and a wide selection of gears now. It was a morning in early March I took off my shirt and was white as a marshmallow then got a sunburn.

One big reason for reusing the original levers is the economics of it. I didn't need to buy parts, blead, and recable. I saw Paul cross bar levers for $251. She is super excited and we will go for a test ride on Monday. If later she wants to change things up we can. She is used to operating this...

New to the Group - Looking for Gravel Friends in the Bay Area

@dpaulson, The Bay Area is huge. If you can get to Larkspur Landing you can jump on the SMART train. That opens up Sonoma Mtn. and Western Marin. You can do Anondale. The North Sonoma Mountain regional park is beautiful and connects to Jack London State Park in Glen Ellen. Helen Putnam park is...

Thanks. I need a new SD card somehow it spring-loaded flew out and vanished. I will show a photo when I get a new one later today. I rotated the display down over the top cap of the steer tube at the stem and added a brass bell. It looks much better.

It turns out that I had a presta 29'er tube. I had to try. It looks great. It rolls but it rubs at the red marker. I ordered 50's and they sent 57's. I will bet that there are a bunch of holiday temps doing order processing. I will order the right tires after the first of the year. The owner is...

Other than programing this is all I can do today. The bullbar and some other things arrive tomorrow, such as the tubes. I can pick up on it Saturday. Friday I will be working on our 4th annual lighted bike ride all day. We are expecting around 750 lighted bikes. Lowriders come from Santa Rosa...

I love it. There is a tool for making dimples. A guy used one in an early TS installation video. It uses a screw to press a divot. It takes two zip ties and a backing of silicone tape so on the rough stuff the pickup doesn't move from alignment. I don't need a speedo or OD but clients expect...

The tires that arrived are not 50's, these are 57's!!! It will fit the front fork but the chainstay might be iffy. It is right there. If it works, that would be badass. Nope,I did another check another way. It currently has 40's. That difference is 17mm. 17/2 is 8.5. I then set the calliper to...

Next it is a matter of trimming the speed sensor wire. That is easy there is just 3V positive, negative, and a white signal wire. They each get sealed in 2mm heat shrink tube and then 1/4 marine grade goes over the outside and it gets tucked into the secret compartment and the cover plate goes...

I removed a seven mm section of the bottom of the downtube because it stuck out too far and was not flat to support a mounting bushing. The chainring goes down, the counterforce is the motor goes up against the downtube. I put a chunk of rubber there on the flat spot I made and filed smooth. See...
