How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

They used to refer to the parks around the south side of Cleveland as the "green necklace" and had no ebikes signs when ebikes were the hot new thing. I lived in both Canton and New Philadelphia OH for a long while decades ago, and attended Kent State. That's quite the ride .

    Great bike ride photos

Are you following the daily ride photos and maps here on EBR? Just in case that old times piece is paywalled, here ya go. https://www.nytimes.com/2021/04/05/travel/sussex-bicycle-portraits.html?unlocked_article_code=1.ZU8.UM4F.VBUiy7PEygVt&smid=url-share

    Montague folding full size....

They're expensive but not that expensive. Beware any that were once electrified, most of those are without functional batteries. I don't remember the common kit used but something proprietary in an out of business company was involved @PedalUma might remember. He lucked into a good buy for me...

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

Reports from Ohio, which once had a bad rep for ebikes , agree with that, including ebikes in the "green necklace " parks around Cleveland now. IDK if legal, but apparently so or not enforced.

Rusted Wallke X3 Pro Battery - can’t remove, help!

What about putting an ice pack between battery and lock?

Rusted Wallke X3 Pro Battery - can’t remove, help!

Seriously "Take care not to heat the battery. You can put a damp rag on the battery to protect it from the heat." I would use a better heat shield than a wet rag, and work on it outside. A battery fire will ruin your whole day.

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

Apparently here in Pennsylvania you can legally ride on the sidewalk if (and only if ) if there is no bike lane available.

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

Absolutely correct. But 1. Traffic is scary in an immediate way that stops most people from even trying bikes. 2. We shouldn't have to choose between having a heart attack and a becoming a hood ornament on a pickup, IMHO.

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

Reviving this zombie thread since it was what I could find on infrastructure. I love this quote : " “Imagine if a team of scientists devised a drug which massively reduced people’s chances of developing cancer or heart disease, cutting their overall likelihood of dying early by 40%. This would...

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

Yes. Fit is the about the only technical thing about bikes that I really try to understand, and a big reason I am so leary of DTC bikes. Fit really matters more than the battery capacity or amount of boost for even a medium level ride, because my legs and butt give up long before my bike does.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I'm with Jeremy here. I didn't learn much about bikes, but I learned a lot about myself and that at my advanced age, the third stage of life doesn't have to be a sedentary decline .We are built to move, to try new things, to have fun, not to just survive . That's part of what makes EBR so special.

Very, very cool. I remember your description of your physical condition when I first joined EBR, and I swear you're younger now then then.

Yeah, it used to be fun shopping for albums as well. Long ago.

When was the last time You listened to a record album?

I saw one of those in a friend's dad's huge Chrysler. Impressive, but not a good idea with our washed out roads. But maybe the turnpikes back then were still smooth?

Gotta be able to depend on something, I guess. It's been pissing down here daily in Pennsylvania for about 3 weeks, which sounds pretty normal for the Scots. Rab is just used to it.

Usually it's not even that precise. "Maybe a half day drive" is as accurate as it gets without mapping software.

    Ammo can storage

Another possibility; I am using an old cast iron woodstove (much larger inside than my ammo can) vented through a non used chimney to store batteries, and I charge outside or on a stone floored foyer with no living space above.
