2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

They don't clear the rail trails around here, they wait until Mother Nature does. They barely even plow and treat the roads.

62F. I don't remember what it feels like. We've had an unusually cold winter here. It warmed a bit today and the ice started melting off of the pond. 33 degrees now. Maybe a beach walk tomorrow.

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

Jeremy, you did fine as a high level view. Teams have a variety of riders that specialize in certain events, i.e. one day races, stage race GC, sprinting, climbing, time trialing, and team support. They are generally paid appropriately. The "best" GC rider may or may not be the team leader for...

Watching the peloton - Professional Road Racing thread 2026

I like O'Connor and Jayco for the TDU. I won't see it as I'm not paying $149 for Flobikes. Come February I will get HBO Max for almost everything else except the ASO races (TdF, etc.)

Light vs regular full suspension ebikes

There are about a dozen small manufacturers that build EMTB's around the Avinox today, just not one major manufacturer. As for carbon frames, you're not going to get the light weight and ride quality you want without one. Do they break? Yes. Can they be repaired? Most of the time. I would not...

    Creo Wiring Harness - Lights

I've installed the Micro Drive 500 on a pair of Cannondales. Great light. Whatever you choose, respect the 8W limit for both lights together.

Anyone prefer a fixed single-speed ebike?

My Pinarello has a middle ground. It's not automatic by any means, but I can shift more than one gear at a time with a single button push if I want to. I love it.

Light vs regular full suspension ebikes

I don't ride an EMTB but we sell a lot of them at the shop. Mondraker Dune, Orbea Wild, Cannondale Moterra. All Bosch. Personally, I have two electric bikes, a full power Cannondale Tesoro, with a Bosch 85Nm motor, and a Pinarello Nytro E5 Allroad, which is a "commuter" bike built on a gravel...

Anyone prefer a fixed single-speed ebike?

It only comes in one size, which to me, is a fatal flaw. It's also not light, at 53 pounds. For $2K, there are so many better choices.

Plus the hanger threads can get junked up from dirt and road salt, except in Jeremy Land where they don't have snow (often).

Good find on the twisted derailleur hanger. Misalignment in the vertical plane is easy to see with the naked eye, but a twist in the horizontal plane usually can only be found with the DAG. A twist in the hanger can cause side friction on the jockey wheels, which causes downshifts to skip cogs...

Show us pictures of where you ride your ebikes!

Is that you in the pic? If so, that's a very upright riding position, However, you ride a lot, and not just short hops. I would think that any fitting issues would have already shown themselves, and you said that this pain is new. At this point, I'd ask what has recently changed? Are those new...

Another deal I could not pass up on eBay this time

True, if you look at it from a retail standpoint. At $1300, $300 of that is shipping. A thousand bucks for a bike like this is a steal. The conversion guys don't worry about long term parts availability, they'll just figure out something else that will work. That's the way I'd look at something...

2026 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

The combination of unusually high tides in late October, and what they now call Superstorm Sandy, which featured high winds just under hurricane force, is what destroyed my childhood home in CT back in 2012. Living a block from the beach, we were used to flooding, but nothing like that, which...

    Welcome to the 21st century!!!

Windows has always been a corporate cash cow. It began it's life as a paid application on DOS. As apps move to the cloud and browser based, the need for a heavyweight operating system on the desktop has faded. However, the need for enterprise level operating systems are still there, and...

I haven't heard a thing about it, although our tides vary quite a bit. Maybe I'll go for a beach walk tomorrow.
