So. I have found out. I agree, getting that last 20% of the bead on and seated was incredibly hard -- but did you also try doing it with tannus armor?(I did) what a brutal experience(talc helps in the tire a lot, didn't do it in the first tire and I have regrets..because I may be redoing it...

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

In this city/Saskatoon, we've had huge temp swings, and we're pretty awful for snow clearing on roadways. Everything is sheer ice and snirt right now with a new layer of really cold snow. A week of extreme cold warnings. Can confirm, this is probably best handled by low pressure fat tires. But...

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

I take it the skinny tires are a bit challenging, are they? Still waiting on my 2.6", but there's hope yet...the mail is running. Have ridden on fat tire ebikes in winter. It's good fun, and would be better not having to try and oil the chain at -30. We're in for yet another frigid blizzard...

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

...I'm positive the cost is a little rich for me right now -- but if the swap is that gnarly to do twice a year -- Maybe I pay a shop to or get plug and play wheelset as you said.

    Zen Photon Pro- Preorder | 1040Wh UL Certified battery | 500W nominal/900W peak power Torque-sensing motor w/ Throttle | USD 2999 | CAD 3999

Tis actually my plan this coming summer. Ride until battery 1 runs out, then ride home on #2. Uncertain where I'll put the battery yet, though. Part of me wondered about backpack--though I ride free of one these days and love it. Battery trailer complete with solar charger also has some...

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

As far as getting summer/wheels made -- I had the same thoughts. Means we'd need another enviolo heavy duty, though, right? I wonder what the cost of said wheels might be. I got tannus armor and tube for mine also. Looks like mail is starting back up shortly so tires will be coming my way, finally.

I find myself slightly jealous of the center mount display(works better for winter with pogies) and those turn signals seem neat, though by law I would still have use hand signals in Sask.

Exactly what I did! Wish I had opted for that premium shipping now, though. Canada Post still has mine in a warehouse/depot in Winnipeg, LOL.

I'm eventually going to find out. Found a comment somewhere that mentioned up to 2.8 was possible, but required removing fenders. 2.6 apparently didn't? Or at least I hope.

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

So yeah, have ridden winters on 4" and 4.8" studded fat tire ebikes(beta testing ebikes for a certain local company here). Saskatoon will often have powdery snow topping, hardpack, sheer ice, or cement, or some combo of all 4. Not until late march/april do we get into slushy times usually. Never...

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

Ah perfect! Mine's got the suspension seatpost, but I've had my eye on the thudbuster for some time now, and am seriously considering it...soon Thanks for the confirmation on studded tire, too!

Winter riding on the Zen Photon.

Having been badly bitten/injured by ice here which is the state of sask roads for much of the time(on another brand of bike with not-these Johnny Watts 365, no complaints about them so far), I'm looking into doing a tire swap to be 100% sure I hurt less this winter. So far, am thinking the...

I use https://arkel.ca/products/tailrider-trunk-bag?variant=44262858195193 on mine. Nice that it has the rain cover. I also picked up another of theirs for more versatility, but it's the hanging pannier you said you were not looking for. (the bug, for reference).

Let's talk about the NEW Photon Pro | UL Certified 1040Wh battery | 750W 52V Midmotor | 160 Nm Torque and Throttle

Nice bikes! the center mount display will make for better time winter riding for those who do(pogeys get in the way of the previous iteration, haven't put em on yet though, it's not even cold!) . How much heavier is the new version vs previous?

    Zen Photon Pro- Preorder | 1040Wh UL Certified battery | 500W nominal/900W peak power Torque-sensing motor w/ Throttle | USD 2999 | CAD 3999

I think the ST is a next riding reason purchase in my case, especially now. I went from the stock seat, to WTB Volt(also a no on this bike), back to Brooks C19 All Weather carved, to the latest change tonight: Brooks C17 All Weather. It's nigh on perfect. Didn't even really notice it was there...

ST. I don't need that much travel as I'm still young and only have the elbow injury to contend with so far...and I've read that LT has a bit of bounce even at its stiffest, which is the opposite of what I'm looking for.

Yep, if I hadn't broken my elbow a while back in some wondrous way, it'd probably be fine. Might try swapping grips around, but the bars are pretty much just right for me.

I'm ogling the Thudbuster ST myself for next season. Word to the wise, get the sleeve for it if you do the same, keeps it clean, I'm told.
