How many wires go from the battery to the controller? If it's just the positive and negative, then the controller probably isn't proprietary and the world is your oyster. Then you can buy a controller kit from many sources, making sure it fits and is voltage and power compatible with your bike...

That's your brake cable that's slipped out. If you line up the slots of the ferrule and lock ring you should be able to slip it back into position. Make sure the slots aren't in line after reassembly.

Grin (ebikes.ca) has how to lace a hub motor video, and a spoke calculator, which I have used to build 3 motor wheels. They even sell cut to length spokes. It worked out very well for me.

Have you been checked for sleep apnea. I had problems with atrial fib, a CPAP machine ended that.

When I want the exercise I ride a pedal-only bike. No need for dead weight. Low gearing helps with the bad knees.

I have a 500w hub motor and it gets up to 1200+ watts. All depends on the controller and what it will pull.
