Known Issues & Problems with Orbea Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

There may be a small amount of drag when pedaling with the power off, as I observed motor rpm when in this state. The back wheel doesn't spin/freewheel as easily as my other bicycles do. I'm not sure where that slight amount of drag is coming from.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

I'm not noticing any flex on mine. There is some brake rub when standing out of the saddle I notice from time to time.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

It would be nice if you could make it as short as possible. 14% isn't quite enough for me (22.8 mph). I did a group ride today and got dropped when the speed got over 26 mph.

Orbea Gain rear hub noise when freewheeling

Sounds like the freewheel is shot. Why not take it to the shop you bought the bike from? Probably covered under warranty. You can remove and replace the freewheel, but Shimano ones are not user serviceable. Not sure what freewheel ebikemotion uses or if they are fixable.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Somebody already tried that and it didn't work. Read some of the earlier posts in this thread.

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

And the Orbea is torque at the rear wheel whereas the Specialized is at the bottom bracket, which gives even less torque at the rear wheel because it's reduced by the bicycle gearing, which has only a 48x42 low gear.

Specialized Turbo Creo 28mph Electric Road Bike

This bike is a lot more expensive than the Orbea Gain, and not much better. It has a little bit bigger battery, but my Gain M20 has a double crank. I wonder too if it's capable of really utilizing that 28 mph top speed cut-off seeing that the motor is only 240 watts. I'd like to see a comparison...

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

I used it for a while when I was new to my bike, figuring things out. Now I only use it to check power level or change power settings. If you use it as a bike computer, it eats cell phone battery and is not as good as a Garmin Edge bike computer.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

The Pinarello and Bianchi ebikes are expensive too. I question their need to come out with a proprietary motor.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

I have the same problem. There is minimal clearance between the crank and the chainstays as compared to other bikes I own. I adjusted my cleats to prevent my heels from hitting the chainstays.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

I'm using a Garmin GSC10 sensor with a magnet on the end of the pedal spindle.

    Ebikemotion x35 speed limiter "fix"

Haven't noticed either of these. The motor rpm is 0 above 20 mph according to the ebikemotion app, so I doubt there is any drag.

    Lower back pain and bikes

I have hand numbness on my mountain bikes with flat bars, and much less numbness with road bars. I think it's that flat bars lock you into one hand position whereas road bars have three positions (hoods, drops, tops), and I switch my hand positions from time to time.

    Orbea Gain E-Road Bike

I thought Orbeas are only available in bike shops.

New Jersey passes low-speed electric bicycle law

It says the motor has to stop providing assistance at 20 mph. That means no class 3. It also specifically calls out Class 1 and 2; no class 3. That's what I think it means anyway. "Low-speed electric bicycle" means a two or three-wheeled vehicle with fully operable pedals and an electric motor...

New Jersey passes low-speed electric bicycle law

It looks to me that Class 3 bikes are not allowed (1 and 2 only with a 20 mph cutoff speed).

    trump tariffs

That doesn't change the fact that the CA high speed rail project is a failure, and money from it could be better put to use on other infrastructure projects.

    trump tariffs

This project should be canceled. It's way over budget, way underfunded, and way behind schedule and the leg they want to build will have few passengers. I think the current governor is keeping it going because he knows he's going to have to reimburse the feds for $$$ already spent if he cancels it.

    trump tariffs

Only if said part is made in China. There's lots of parts that aren't. I don't think I've got a single Shimano part that's made in China on my bikes; my Shimano parts are made in Japan and Malaysia. Chinese tubes and tires are junk. I don't use SRAM stuff. The danger with Shimano is they are...

    New Yamaha Gravel Bike

I guess it depends on what kind of gravel roads you ride. If fairly smooth, suspension is unnecessary and wider tires with lower pressure work well. Gravel bikes with suspension seem to be crossing the line with mountain bikes too much. On gravel rides I do, there is significant pavement riding...
