Bafang Ultra Corn Head Grease Install Update - July 2022 to July 2025.

Back in July 2022 I decided to install John Deer Corn Head grease in my new Bafang Ultra. This photo is what my motor looked like when I opened it in May 2023 after 10 months. I was very pleased with the noise reduction and performance. Grease was well distributed everywhere. I slathered on a...

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

I agree. I was going to put in a caveat about, once you decide you are in this for the long haul..... The advice that I gave is derived after going through two bikes, one a complete DIY.

What have you learned from your e-bike experiences?

What I learned: Purchase the highest quality bike you can afford from a storied, reputable manufacturer. You deserve the best. Stay away from integrated proprietary electronics and software systems. Purchase a bike that can be serviced locally, or DIY, with a robust decentralised parts...

    Tire Liners

Tried Tannus inserts in my Luna Z1 and and my Aventon Level. They worked pretty good against flats. But still. Finally went tubeless in all my bikes two years ago. Never a problem since going tubeless. Easier and cheaper.

Lugging a Motor, Why it's Bad

Rohloff recommends the oil be changed every 5000km. I change mine a bit more than that. My hub did leak a tiny bit, but after Rohloff reduced the recommended oil amount by half (from 25ml to 12.5ml) it stopped leaking. Bafang Ultra here.

    Old pensioner rider need help

No that is normal. There is a seting that controls where your PAS starts when you turn it on. If it was in PAS 1, the throttle should have worked, unless it is set to 0/off in the controller

    Old pensioner rider need help

I should have asked this question first: When you plugged the throttle into the male plug, and tried the throttle, was your PAS setting on the display at "0"? Did you try the throttle when the PAS setting on the display was at a higher number? The Throttle may be set to not work on "0", but...

    Old pensioner rider need help

So your male connection should be the throttle. I presume your other two are connected to the brakes? If you connected a female throttle plug to the male plug on the mains and it didn't work, it's very possible that your throttle is disabled or set to "0". I suspect that is true since your bike...

Something may be seriously wrong at Zen. They are advertising the Samurai Elite build with a Kindernay VII rear hub. Kindernay went bankrupt and out of business a while ago. No hub support or parts. Zen is either off-loading bad inventory, or doesn't bother to update their website, and may still...
