One more time I'm going to explain the HR727 ebike definition

Keeping it bike related, "best saddle", "best chain lube", and "hub drive vs mid drive" are always good bets for a lively thread. You can only say so much about the legal definition of an ebike before people start to tune you out. Personally, I like the topics with pictures the best. It is...

    Ebikes….Cheating?

That's a myth about running ruining your knees. ;) I subscribe to the theory that any exercise is better than no exercise, but you have to find something that you enjoy doing or you won't do it. https://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/features/does-running-damage-your-knees#1

    upgrading components

The saddle and pedals always get replaced right away when I buy a new bike. I have also immediately replaced the handlebars on a couple of them. If the bike is for commuting, it needs to have a rack, fenders, and lights. I usually leave the drive train and brakes alone until I have ridden it...

    Radical new drivetrain

So the "generator" becomes a throttle for a hub drive bike? You basically clown pedal a low resistance, low output generator and the motor does all the work. There is no way to combine the power of your legs with the power of the motor. With the 250W limit of European motors, I am not seeing...

Best Buy will sell ebikes in the US

I am pretty sure the room(s) were locked. The scientists unknowingly brought the infected thumb drives in with them. At any rate, that virus was a cyber weapon co-developed by the US and Israel and targeted specifically at those control systems. I read somewhere that it took an estimated 50 man...

While I agree that it is good security, it didn't work for Iran's nuclear enrichment program. Remember Stuxnet? The worm used thumb drives and four zero-day exploits to attack those offline control systems.

Best Buy will sell ebikes in the US

That is true. I know of some sensitive OT environments still running Windows XP because the vendor no longer supports the software and the company won't spend the money to look for and migrate to an alternative. There is always a reason that old unsupported operating system is still there...

As much as I liked Windows 7, you do need to get off of it. Being able to get security patches for new vulnerabilities is extremely important in these days of ransomware and state sponsored hackers from China and Russia. If your CNC vendor doesn't support Windows 10, you need to put pressure...

I have no need to use the Geek Squad to service my computers (or my bicycles), so I can't speak to their competence from experience. However, I am sure they have some talented techs and some that are dangerous. There is no way that they have the budget to hire experienced IT people, so they...

Tall Pants for Fall/Winter, Rain pants 36" inseam

Here is what a rain cape looks like. It does add some wind resistance, but it is not that noticeable at lower speeds and with a motor it probably won't matter.

Tall Pants for Fall/Winter, Rain pants 36" inseam

Showers Pass XXL may fit, but it says 35" inseam. I have a cycling rain cape that works pretty well and it doesn't matter what your inseam is. If it is not too cold, you can just accept that you are going to get wet and bring a change of clothes with you.

That could be, but who would have the national footprint that they would need? Rad?

The part about the Geek Squad offering at-home servicing is interesting. I wonder what kind of training they will give their techs and if it will be limited to just the bikes that they sell.

Where is that elusive folding bike?

Can a folder with a mid motor and belt drive fold small enough and be light enough to still have some of the biggest benefits of a folder? It will probably fit in the back of your car or the corner of your apartment. However, can you take it into a restaurant and tuck it under the table? Can...

Wow, Nakto turned out to be junk, so what should I get?

I realize you are just venting and it is frustrating to have deal with bad quality and defective merchandise. However, it is not a scam and you seem intelligent enough to know better. A cheap bike with bottom of the line components and no motor is going to run $200-$500. A good quality bike...

    E bike with throttle

It is possible to adjust the reach by replacing the handlebars with swept back bars if you like everything else about the bike.

    seat post

It wouldn't be for me. Maybe if you don't want to get out of the saddle when you stop the bike at a light? I would rather get a suspension seat post like the Kinekt.
