    Electric Bike Companies That Have Gone Out Of Business

    Totally with Rachel on this one — even if GB had all the money in the world. Why wasn't the program properly capped to begin with? Rich people hijacking funds really meant for everyone else is a time-honored tradition in the US. The UK's clearly not immune. The scams they ran here during COVID...

    Giant fat ebike?

    Grim prospect, those death camels, though I do have to admit to mixed feelings about getting humped to death. ;^}

    How does a foldable ebike work on the beach?

    This EBR video might be helpful, as it goes in depth, not just on some ebikes that might be of interest as beach rides, but on the manufacturers as well. These guys (the current EBR owners) are about as authoritative as any source you'll find on the internet. Every bike they discuss gets...

    Rivian spins out a new micromobility startup called Also with $105M from Eclipse

    Exactly what goes on here. Back in 2001, I heard a Colorado Public Radio interview with a winter Olympian from Vail, Colorado ahead of the coming winter games. CPR: What do you do in Vail, Andrew? Andrew: I'm an architect. I design custom homes here for the millionaires displaced from Aspen by...

    Rivian spins out a new micromobility startup called Also with $105M from Eclipse

    I see at least a niche market in coastal SoCal. We have our share of sensible people, but lots of disposable money here. Rivians are popular, and "If you've got it, flaunt it" seems to be a common philosophy. To that crowd, expensive and unique are virtues.

    Rivian spins out a new micromobility startup called Also with $105M from Eclipse

    Agree with all of that. But I see little evidence that the California definition of a legal ebike (similar to many other state definitions) has any impact on what's sold as an "ebike" in coastal SoCal. For example, "Class 3" ebikes with throttles everywhere, and no shortage of Surrons and...

    2025 - Our Rides in Words, Photos, Maps and Videos

    Somehow doubt that this will put an end to Red Bull's reckless exploitation of young daredevils. Wonder what this unfortunate young man thinks of his deal with the devil now? These modern-day gladiators are put into the arena for our thrills and bloodlust and the greater glory of a stupid...

    Rivian spins out a new micromobility startup called Also with $105M from Eclipse

    My mountain biking neighbor rides a nice Bulls eMTB. Three months ago, he tested a Levo 4 and nearly bought one. Now he's eyeing this Rivian instead. Seemed really excited about the tech behind it. If he gets one, I'll report on it. If Rivian sees potential in this technology, why not let them...

    How does a foldable ebike work on the beach?

    Things to consider before buying a cheaply made off-brand ebike online: 1. Strongly recommend against buying any ebike you haven't tested yourself. They aren't all the same. 2. Test at least one cadence-sensing and one torque-sensing ebike so you know the difference for yourself. Huge...

    How does a foldable ebike work on the beach?

    Lucky dog! The longest continuous beach run I can put together is a low-tide up-and-back totaling 6 mi. Very fortunate that many of my coast and inland hill rides from home come with beautiful weather and spectacular scenery. But there's really nothing as good for the soul as a ride on the...

    How does a foldable ebike work on the beach?

    My 500W 65 Nm errand/beach hub-drive has plenty of oomph for even semi-packed sand. Ditto for the 240W 35 Nm mid-drive gravel bike. No idea what power you'd need for deep loose sand. But doubt 3" tires would work there, either.

    How does a foldable ebike work on the beach?

    Welcome aboard! No experience with 3" tires, but the 27.5 x 2.35" hybrids on my 70 lb errand/beach bike are fine on reasonably damp and packed low-tide sand. So are the 700 x 38 mm (1.5") hybrids on the 38 lb gravel bike below. As you can see, not much sinkage even at 1.5". But they're...

    Just for fun...

    Yikes! What is it with you and treacherous narrow paths/roads with big drops on one side? I sense a secret wish to let gravity have its way with you. ;^}

    Electric Bike Companies That Have Gone Out Of Business

    Exactly. Zillions of ebikes out and about in coastal SoCal now, and many if not most are Rad products. Many of them serve important utility roles, including shopping duty, school and activity transport for kids, surfboard transport, etc. When those Rads break, their riders can't just say, "Oh...

    Specialized Turbo Levo speed remote switch not working

    As a Vado SL 1 owner with little understanding of the bike's electrical side, I'd be heading straight for an authorized Specialized repair shop at this juncture.They've got the proprietary diagnostics and parts access. Yes, easy for me to say with 2 authorized dealers nearby, but not taking any...

    Vaast E/1

    Welcome aboard! An unreachable manufacturer would be a no-go for me by itself, but wondering if you noticed the proprietary suspension? What's your plan for suspension parts?

    I don't know, that sign looks pretty plausible to me. I mean, of course the crocs would lie in wait by the sunken tracks. ;^}

    Welcome aboard! We'd love to see your bike and the places you ride. My 3 favorite forum threads are the ones for sharing ride photos. https://forums.electricbikereview.com/threads/2025-our-rides-in-words-photos-maps-and-videos.57230/...

    Kudos to the public safety department! Bet a lot of cyclists there would never think to look out for crocodiles. Faster than you think and way worse than dogs if they catch you. ;^}
