Great sale going on now at Evelo

Thanks! Ghost pedaling hopefully is something I can deal with as you do. Even on my Priority Current, I sometimes wish there was one more gear. My biggest reservation about the Omega is the quasi beach cruiser style. It's not the aesthetics that bothers me, but I like something slightly more...

Great sale going on now at Evelo

The Omega is very enticing at this price point. I don't need one, although that has never stopped me before. I am not a big fan of cruiser style handlebars though. Inasmuch as I have fairly long arms, I find them too wide for crisp handling, but these might be okay. The width is not listed...

Catalina Island, Avalon to Two Harbors

That's good. I did not know there was ever a casino on Catalina Island. (I know a lot of folks love casinos, but I'm not one of them). https://www.visitcatalinaisland.com/about-the-island/history/catalina-casino/

Catalina Island, Avalon to Two Harbors

It looks like there are a half dozen shops now that rent e-bikes, and at least two near the ferry. Here's one: https://www.catalinatours.com/tour/electric-bike-rental/

Catalina Island, Avalon to Two Harbors

I rode my first ebike on Catalina Island. That was 2008. I rented one as I came off the ferry. I actually had no idea what I was in for on one of these new-fangled contraptions, but I absolutely loved it. When I returned to the big city a week later I was raving to friends and family, saying...

    Priority Single Speed E Bike?

I wouldn't mind seeing a few improvements to the Current, as I would give my current Current to a family member. I rode a beach style cruiser a few weeks ago though (rented Pedego) and that is not something I would be interested in. In short, I didn't like the handling at all. Plenty of...

    Priority Current versus Evelo Omega?

Both of these were on my short list two summers ago, but I ultimately chose the Priority Current. I don't think you would go wrong with either bike, but I am more than happy with my Current. Then again, I'm stubbornly anti-throttle, which admittedly is a key feature for many riders. The...

    Best ebike for Seniors Citizens

I had not heard the "mixte" term before, but essentially my Priority Current likely fits that definition, although they refer to it as Mid-Step I believe. In any case, I'm very comfortable with the two foot clearance (give or take an inch). On another note, while traveling last week I rented...

    Best ebike for Seniors Citizens

I know you've taken a few jabs on this thread, Alloo, for even posing the question, but as an aging boomer, I know there are certain commonalities amongst us geezers. In other words, it's an excellent topic in my opinion. Moreover, there is an e-bike brand specifically targeted for seniors...

    Wing Freedom 2 or X ver 2?

Sharp looking bike, but I have to go along with Taylor. I'm tall enough at 5'11", but I think my days of climbing onto the bike over the rear fender are behind me. The other unheralded feature of this bike (Freedom X, not Freedom 2) is a torque sensor, which doesn't sound like a big deal...

    Wing Freedom 2 or X ver 2?

An old college friend is looking to buy an ebike, and was asking me for shopping advice. Since she lives in NYC, I thought the Wing Freedom ST might be a good choice since she could buy it from their nearby showroom. On paper it looks like a decent bike based on the current sale price. I found...

    Lectric Lite on Amazon

That's a good point. I'm in northern New England, so on the opposite end of the country from Lectric's Arizona headquarters. My Lite took a week to 10 days from Arizona as I recall. Not bad, but Amazon shows 4 to 5 days for delivery, and possibly less opportunity for shipping fumbles.

    Lectric Lite on Amazon

A friend that owns a Lite forwarded a link this morning. My response was "hmm...that's interesting". I really have no opinion, only genuine curiosity from a marketing perspective. I have the same general broad-brush impression of Amazon e-bikes that I have about bikes sold at Walmart...

    Atlantic Magazine on ebikes

Quite a rant. Very well stated, but totally misplaced. The Atlantic? I read the Atlantic for opinion pieces from James Fallows, Charlie Pierce, Tom Nichols, et. al. If they're pandering to me, then I'm a pandee. I don't care. I don't go to Starbucks or "Stahbuks" though. I agree their coffee...

    Bollard Posts from Hell

There isn't a binary choice of bollard posts or ATV's on trails. You can keep ATV's or any big ass vehicle off trails without narrow poles sticking out of the ground. Trail gates, for example, work well, and are far more conspicuous.

    Bollard Posts from Hell

"Entirely on me". I know. I cursed myself out as I hobbled away from my bike ("you stupid f***ing idiot"). Still, the narrow distance between posts, a stop sign just in front, and a ledge to my left was a trifecta "assist".

    Bollard Posts from Hell

Excellent pictures and post, 6z. Picture 3 looks like something that could have been on Too Stupid to Die, or Jackass! Picture 6 looks very similar to my mishap scenario, but instead of boulders to my left, I went over a cliff (or at least a very steep ledge). Amen to that! I've been back in...

Stuff I added to my Priority Current

There is a shim of sorts inside the bracket that holds the light. I know that for sure, since it's beginning to come apart. (It's visible on the picture if you look at the handlebar light closely). I've used some black electrical tape to help keep the light secured with some improvement, and...

Stuff I added to my Priority Current

I now tuck my Hafny bar end mirror under the handlebar, and the rear visibility is just as good. I'm thinking of adding one on the right side as well, but I haven't convinced my self it's necessary, or even a good idea. My bike came with easily removable caps at the end. My friends Current...

    Bollard Posts from Hell

I didn't have a pay-wall problem, (I use an ad blocker) but comments are limited to subscribers. Just as well, as most of the comments were totally irrelevant (cyclists are not courteous) or obnoxious (cyclists need to be more careful...yada yada). Those that think they're immune to accidents...
