    E-bike Newbie

I don't think 2022 vs. 2023 matters per se, as it would possibly for a car (especially in terms of resale value, which is close to a non-issue for a bike). I would ask if the Dutch owned Gazelle is speed limited to comply with European regulations, which is 15.5 MPH. Somebody here probably...

    Current Battery Extender

Yup. There must have been a glitch in their system over the weekend. Buying one now (not the backpack). Thanks for the correction!

    E-bike Newbie

I like your choices LBP, inasmuch as I have no first hand experience with the ones on your list. I'll only add that I've been spoiled by belt drive IGH (Priority Current, and Evelo Omega) and don't think I want to go back to a derailleur again, whatever the upside of those might be.

    Current Battery Extender

That's a very nice mod, 6z. I think I have some tubing so I might order the other parts. The Hudson panniers are out of stock, unfortunately, and the pre-order hyperlink is not working, so it doesn't look like their panniers will be available anytime soon. I can make due with another one I...

    Current Battery Extender

Thank you for this! I have the range extender but have not installed it yet. Point 2: I was hoping my Topeak MTX saddle bag would snap on, but not at all surprised it won't. Point 4: I wonder if the Priority/Hudson branded Panniers work on this rack. I do need something to securely replace...

Help finding a mid-drive, torque ebike with a throttle and natural pedal assist?

Never mind bicycling. These individuals have given up on the concept of walking.

Help finding a mid-drive, torque ebike with a throttle and natural pedal assist?

I think the original poster was left for dead several pages ago.

    Current Battery Extender

While that can be done I suppose, a second primary battery would be much clumsier to carry along. The extender actually has a little more juice that the main battery, and right now the extender is only marginally more expensive and includes a rack.

    Current Battery Extender

I bought the one sold on the Priority web site. It is discounted by about $120 this week.

Help finding a mid-drive, torque ebike with a throttle and natural pedal assist?

Actually, I agree with everything you are saying. I rented a cadence sensor bike over the winter, and could not balance quickly enough without a quick throttle push, so I get it. I also don't think there's a meaningful safety difference between pedaling 19 miles and hour or throttling at that...

Help finding a mid-drive, torque ebike with a throttle and natural pedal assist?

I laugh, but I'm really of two minds. My libertarian side believes people should be able to throttle/moped down the path as long as they observe local regulations and exhibit courtesy. I also fully understand that some riders need to have them, be it for injury, illness, mobility, weight or any...

Help finding a mid-drive, torque ebike with a throttle and natural pedal assist?

So true. I regularly see an individual on a noisy gas powered bike/ scooter of sorts burning up a few local public paths. No enforcement evidently, since I've been seeing this entitled miscreant for over a year now.

    Current Battery Extender

I've been on the fence about purchasing one of these for some time, but the 15% accessory sale gave me an excuse to indulge myself. It should be delivered later this week. Unlike the Current itself, it's still not exactly a bargain, but then again, there are times this summer and fall I expect...

Criteria: Mid-Drive, Belt Drive, Class 3—what bike do you pick?

The motor on the Current is a custom Truckrun for whatever that's worth. My newer Evelo has a Dapu, which is noticeably quieter, but I'm not qualified to address long term reliability or quality. Probably owing more to the different IGH transmissions, they each have a different pedal feel, and...

Criteria: Mid-Drive, Belt Drive, Class 3—what bike do you pick?

I feel that way about throttles. No Moped mode garbage for me. I like to pedal. (I'm all in favor of throttles for those that actually need to have one). I can only say I'm quite satisfied with my two e-bikes. Either would fulfill most of your criteria. (Priority Current and Evelo Omega)...

Yet Another: Help Me Choose ... ?

Hard for me to re-create your pedaling experience in my head especially since I'm experiencing the Enviolo Automatiq on a different bike altogether. I'll link to Court's review of the Evelo so you can compare specs between the two. I know he's also reviewed several Specialized units as well in...

    Choose between Vado3 or 4, or Tero3.0

You clearly know more than I do about suspension forks, but I ride primarily on dirt roads, light trails (dirt/gravel) and occasionally pavement. I watched a young couple last summer on Cannondale bikes with front suspension riding a limestone trail, and shook my head as they bounced around...

NYT article on ebike battery fires

Thanks for posting this. There are too many tragic stories like the one highlighted in this article, and unfortunately the more reputable and responsible suppliers risk being painted by the same brush. I've heard and read the fear from consumers in casual comments both online and with non...

Yet Another: Help Me Choose ... ?

I value loyalty, but at the end of the day, do what is best for you. My two cents regarding the Enviolo Automatiq: A lot of users seem to be tweaking based on their perceived cadence. While I have only pedaled a little over a hundred miles, I have not found that remotely necessary. It also...
