    Bafang Reliability

I am at about 1,500 miles with my BBS02 750 watt Bafang on a Surly Long Haul Trucker. Bulletproof reliability is indeed what I was hoping for and thus far is what I am experiencing. Regreased the big gear at 1k Only had two issues: - Standard cranks seemed a bit 'wobbly' so a replaced with...

    Recharge during lunch?

I carry two batteries when touring. The 'spare' battery w/ charger are kept in an easily carry bag that, that can be taken into place for charging for 'topping' off during lunch or taking breaks. I do the topping off often, and never had an issue with it. I have left a battery/charger at a...

Surly Long Haul Trucker E-Bike conversion

The Surly Long Haul Trucker has been an excellent bicycle. Many years, thousands of miles, lots of tours, a real workhorse of a bicycle. It is too bad that Surly chose to sunset them. I imagine Surly will have something great to 'replace' it in the future. But the Long Haul Trucker...

I agree ! After decades of riding without a taillight, I now have a Garmin Varia RTL515 taillight that changes in intensity as it detects vehicles as they approach from the rear. A sound notice is also given. (REVIEW) I would not ride without one now.

1,400 mile review of my felt-sport-e-95s

over 4,000 miles now on the Felt Sport-E 95s. It has been a good Commuter and touring bike with very few issues. I like the Shimano Steps system for the riding I do. There is a concern I have with availability of repair & additional battery for that added extra long day of touring. Felt no...

    Introducing Jones Motorbikes!

The Jones LWB HDE Frame set look to be a great option for a Touring Bike build. I just do have have any experience with the Bafang motor. I have only used the Shimano Steps 6000 series motor. Does anyone have comparison advice/experience with moving from a Shimano Steps to a Bafang motor?

    Shimano steps solar charging

Did you find anything out about this option? I am using a Jackery Solar Generator. It works, for remote camping and riding, but it is not ideal.

How many miles do you have on your ebike?

After 4,000 miles on the Felt Sport-E 95s, I am generally impressed with it. But I am still not feeling good about Felt discontinuing the model. I am still waiting for that "break out company" to have the go-to Touring E-Bike. Review

Shimano Logo Flashes but then shuts off

I had similar issue. I removed the computer and cleaned the electrical connectors with a dry cloth (both on the computer & the computer housing). If the "turn on button" is on the computer, hold it in for a couple of seconds.

When you want to haul with your van

I haul ebikes in a Ford Transit Connect and secure the bike(s) with a floor mount wheel platform and then a few bungee cords. I can get two bikes in when the with a couch setup and one bike in when the the couch is folded down into a bed. This works well when the weather is bad and the bike(s)...

    Katy Trail in Mo

The ride from Boonville to Sedalia is a nice part of the KATY Trail too. It make a good "out and back" day or 37 miles each way. I did the out and back in one day this summer. At that time, the Trail east of Boonville was closed for about 45 miles because of flooding of the Missouri River...

    Charging in Public

When touring, to help with 'range anxiety', I often stop for a "recharge"at a local cafes ... I ask if it is okay to charge up a battery while I eat and rechange myself.... and I have never had anyone say no. I sometimes stop at LBS's and purchase something and ask if I can charge my battery...

    Do you break spokes?

I recommend having the LBS replace the spoke and then have go through the process of truing a wheel. It is not uncommon for factory wheel builds to have issues with broken spokes. If another spoke breaks, then have them rebuild the wheel. best of luck!

How many miles do you have on your ebike?

My odometer just went over 2,000 miles on my Felt Sporte 95 Shimano Steps e6000 (in about 1 year after new purchase) Issues: - spoke breaks rear wheel, rebuilt wheel to resolve.. - Current issue that I am watching: the Shimano display blanking out occasionally, requiring the display to be...

How do you define the ideal electric touring bicycle?

agreed... always in a hotel room or attached to my tent. The hard part is when stopping for exhibits, shopping in stores or eating in establishments. I have been fortunate so far, and try to use common sense in those situations. Have others been less fortunate?
