Bike that can carry an extra rider

Kids are now 10 and 8 and growing fast and with one car we are finding having the ability to take one of the kids on the bike would be nice for events and things. My wife and I also ride our e-bikes together on date night but think it would be nice sometimes to just take one bike if we had a...

She Fell in Love With Her Commute After Replacing Her Car With an Electric Cargo Bike

Really well done video and very inspiring to hear her story. I stumbled upon this while looking in the cargo ebike forum. I will say around 5 years ago when I got rid of my car (we now have 1 car for a family of four) it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I'm healthier, have a lot...

What Flashing Tail Light are Members Using?

Agree, as a driver I notice the blinking quicker even though it is slightly annoying. I do appreciate it catching my eye especially at dusk which is the hardest time to see bikes and usually around commute home time. Stay safe all!

What Flashing Tail Light are Members Using?

I’ve never heard that before but makes sense and I will start doing that, thanks for the info. Good news is with days getting longer my ride home from work is still in daylight!

    Pre-/Post-Ride routine?

After a few years of commuting on regular and ebikes the only major routine change I have made is shifting down one gear for the first 10 minutes or so of the ride to let my legs warm up with a little higher cadence. I found my knees liked that and I was less sore.

What's Needs to be Done if E-bike Kept In a Cold Garage?

I’ve kept my bike in the winter this year and it seems to be running great. I think the coldest the garage temp got was about 30 and seemed to average closer to 35 or 40. I did keep the battery inside.

Anything significantly new/different coming for the 2023 season?

Great post! My wife loves her ebike and she does look good on it too! We both love the extra cash flow from only having one car. I suspect in 2023 there will be ebike companies consolidating as well as reducing the number of models they sell (rip rad mission)

First commuter ebike: Level.2, Prodigy, Vado 3, or another mid-end?

Can’t go wrong with either bike. I’ve been bike commuting for a couple years on ebike aventon pace 500 and a few years before that on regular bike. I wish I would have bought the level over the pace 500 for the shocks and torque sensor. For the extra money a mid drive would be nice but I was too...

    Love Aventon ebikes even more!

Got it, I saw the photo right above the title and now see it's the one below the text, good catch! I haven't ridden the Soltera but my spouse has the Rad Mission which is a single speed and loves it. They also discontinued that one so there must not be a big market for single speed e-bikes if...

    Love Aventon ebikes even more!

Nice! I've got the first gen Pace 500 and very happy with it after a year and a half and 1,800 miles. Front shocks were a nice add to the Gen 2. Another guy that commutes on my same bike path loves his Aventure!

Looking for Bike Mechanics at an e-bike refurbishment company based in New York

Cool idea, good luck! It does seem ebikes right now are cheap enough on the lower end folks toss them out when they go bad. I’ll be watching as you guys grow and may even buy a refurbished bike in the future.

Front page LA Times today regarding Ebikes

I suspect you're right although I hope not. I've kicked around getting a little moped but the insurance and registration costs hurt the numbers pretty fast compared to an e-bike which is just the purchase price out the door and no ongoing costs.

Front page LA Times today regarding Ebikes

Last time we were out in San Diego I was surprised by how careless/fast the e-bikes/scooters were riding along the beach walking paths (highly congested areas) without concern for people walking/crossing to the beach from parking lots. I am a supporter for sure of e-bikes but after seeing how...

Front page LA Times today regarding Ebikes

definitely an issue in highly congested areas, way too easy to accidentally run into a person, i've always tried to put the power to pas 0 in congested areas so i don't have an accidental "pedal" engage and run into someone, i like to do the same as i come up to intersections too especially if...

    Commuter bike for total newcomer

Good luck with your commute, I started bike commuting about 8 years ago and one of the best decisions I've ever made. I started off quite slow and would have my wife drop me off with bike on the rack and bike home. I would do a lot of one way commutes and take the bus in or home with bike on the...

Known Issues & Problems with Aventon Products + Help, Solutions, & Fixes

RIP Rad Mission now that it's discontinued, great simple bike and hope they are just updating it. I will often take my wife's for my morning commute because I love the natural feel of pedaling it so much and absolutely love that it has no display and allows me just to enjoy the scenery.

Having problems with power loss on my Aventon Pace 500 (2020 model)

I have not experienced what you describe with my Aventon Pace 500. The only odd power issue I have felt is actually the other way. When I am pedaling using PAS and stop pedaling and coast I feel a little "surge" or push or jolt. It doesn't happen often but definitely happens once per week and...

Had the best...now on foot like the rest

Sorry to hear that, my wife had a bike stolen a few years ago and it was a much worse feeling than we expected it would be. Real hard problem to solve for sure. Is that something that can be claimed on an insurance claim for homeowners or renters insurance?

    Happy Holidays to All !

Got Getty snow pants and went for test ride and they work great! Still trying to solve cold hand issue but everything else is warm now. Looking at these heated gloves with batteries.

    Consumer Reports: Ebike Fires

I only charge when I can see the battery, seems to take about four hours so either right when whe I get home from work or at the office. This is one of my wife’s biggest hang ups about a Tesla is she doesn’t want it charging in the garage and starting our house on fire, not sure how real the...
