Hidden battery in the DownTube replacements hard to find?

On some ebikes the whole thing is a propriety system. The battery communicates with the controller. Makes things complicated, from what I understand.

Pure torque control. Cadence and others if included leads to unnatural ride.

I have a bbso2 from Luna with their program, and it is a cadence sensing PAS. It works great, no noticeable lag and never have the ghost pedaling issue. I also have a Grin hubmotor bike with a torque sensor in the free hub. With the torque sensing bike I have to pedal with equal force from each...

I was referencing the Intense 951 MtB in this thread's title.

A motor or two would be a good addition, though it might be difficult to fit a battery into it. ;)

    LA Fires!

How's everyone doing who lives in SoCal? I haven't seen Jeremy posting recently, and I believe the fire is in his neighborhood. Hope he's alright.

Battery power dependent on level of charge?

As the battery drains the voltage drops so less power at constant amps, and the amps delivered depends on your controller. There are low voltage cut-outs on the controller and the battery's BMS. It would be nice to know what your controller's low voltage cut-out is set for. You would need to...

    Throttles and California

I think what Pedal was trying to say is that to stay in business you need to have and sell what people want, within the law, of course. The US has a real hot mess as far as electric bikes are concerned. Things have gone pretty far down the power path, and it will be difficult to re-regulate.

Ain't those 67 year old's a bit too young to be riding those ebikes? Just saying 🤪.

    conversion kit

The BBS02 makes a great conversion, but you need to make sure it fits into the bottom bracket first (and figure out where to put the battery.) Outside of a heavy rear wheel, I really like a direct drive hub motor on the rear wheel. I have one that is torque sensing and with regen. It's a Grin...

    Throttles and California

When I want to pedal I ride a bicycle. When I ride to and from work, I'm not so much into pedaling and use an ebike. Sometimes a throttle seems like a good idea.

    Throttles and California

I'd like to see an accurate readout of that bike at maximum power. From my experience living in hilly country (and I'm pretty darn fit for 70+), 240 watts would not be enough power -- unless it's an incredibly light ebike. As far as California's law, it's unenforceable. Though I guess it could...

    Throttles and California

Just read this about the new California ebike restrictions, and thought I'd pass it on: https://electrek.co/2025/01/01/starting-today-california-is-coming-for-your-e-bike-throttles/

Need help on adding a throttle to an REI Co-op 1.1 bike

Well, power up your bike, hit the throttle, and see which way the wheel turns. If it turns backwards power down and plug the learning wires together. Power up and if the wheel turns smoothly the right way, power down and unplug the learning wires. If it doesn't turn right, repeat. That's my...

The two white wires might be a learning circuit. Do they fit together?

    Hot rod your ebike?

If you want to go fast get an emoto. Otherwise, increase the voltage for speed and amps for torque. Which most likely would require a new controller and battery. Personally, I think a motorcycle with pedals is a sign of lunacy.

Are E-Bikes Safe For Young Teenagers?

The true nutters are those who think our global civilization has no effect on the planet earth.

Are E-Bikes Safe For Young Teenagers?

As they say it's possible, but it is not realistic. It's going to take more energy in than you get out, and nobody is doing it to actually make usable amounts of jet fuel.

    Is Espin out of business?

Never heard of them, but then I did a search. What a long, strange trip GT bikes has been on!
