    A Day's Work

I have no worries about putting a kickstand on an old MTB, but I'm just trying to make a road queen off this twenty year-old full-suspension mountain bike. My next build will be on this Gary Fisher Sugar 3. I'm planning on installing a 72v direct-drive hubmotor. That is, if I can figure out the...

    A Day's Work

Finally got around to putting a battery in the rather constricted triangle of my "a-day's-work" build. First ebike battery that I welded up. It all works, though I'm not impressed with a 36v TSDZ2b. I did learn something about batteries in this endeavor, so my building an ebike from a pile of...

Outfitting a drop-bar ebike for recreational use

Can you make use of the drop? For me that would be a no! At 72 and with three fused cervical vertebrae I can ride on the drop and I see the road just fine, but that's the road beneath my front tire! I'd suggest you borrow a regular bike with drop handlebars and see how you like it before you...

Fucare libra, just bought 2. any thoughts

I bought a production ebike that was lame like that on the PAS. And no throttle! Replaced the controller and it fixed both those problems. That ebike was being liquidated mostly because of the stupid and lame installed electronics. She's a great bike now, though having Huffy painted on the frame...

    Battery fully charged at 97%?

Seems normal to me. What bike/battery do you have?

    Ebiking with assist

An etrike would be best, but that is a whole other can of worms. IMO, a tilting trike would be the way to go. My choice would be an upright tadpole. "Training wheels" for an adult bike, let alone ebike, would need to be well engineered to be safe and effective. Maybe there's something out there.

Getting my first road ebike - Specialized vs Canyon

Some of us are rather more unorthodox in our bicycles and just use the machine however we want. Tires are more of an issue for me than a bikes labeled usage. Here's a picture of my latest road ebike creation. Still need to replace the front knobby with a smoother one.

    Is Sondors next?

I wanted to snag a Metacycle when they went to liquidation, but not so much now. I bought a Ryvid Outset motorcycle the other day. Couldn't wait any longer because that clock keeps a ticking.

Do you wear cologne when you ride?

I'm still trying to figure out what girls like, though, for me, they're now 60. Any younger and I would be robbing the cradle.

Addmotor's new mid drive 1000W split rear differential trike

You'd probably get a thousand miles range if it were. The installed hub motor that comes with the trike is about 350w!

Addmotor's new mid drive 1000W split rear differential trike

A blast from my past, but this is the kinda trike I want: Isn't this the cutest trike that you ever saw?

Where is the problem located at?

I convert twenty year-old bikes to electric, so I have become used to taking everything apart and putting it back together, so I do understand your reluctance on a new bike. Though issues with handling must be resolved one way or the other. And you don't want the other.

Where is the problem located at?

Have you taken the forks out of the frame and inspected the bearings and races of the headset. It would also be good to do teardown and rebuild the shocks. It could just be your front tire. Bad geometry or weight balance can be a serious thing. I have had 3+ decades living with a broken collar...

Freegen - New Hub Motor Innovation That Is Definitely Worth Watching

This was posted on another forum by Alon-CargeBike: "But let me just give a quick clarification - The controller applies motor braking torque that matches precisely the mechanical braking torque applied by the user, this is done by measuring wheel speed and motor speed and allowing the disc to...
