    Karmic Kickstarter launched

Thanks Paul! Top speed is 20mph for the single speed bike, 28mph for the NuVinci bike. It's 135mm but with slider dropouts, for SS or IGH hubs, not really made for regular derailleurs. 48V system, battery is included, shipping is extra. We will post specs soon!

    Karmic Kickstarter launched

Just launched our Kickstarter this morning, let me know what you think: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/hongquan/the-kben-a-modern-electric-bike-for-the-human-race We already got listed as New & Noteworthy and now we're a Kickstarter Staff Pick too! Cheers, Hong

    Karmic Bikes on YouTube!

That sounds like a nice idea, but those packs aren't rebuildable. Every other ebike battery pack has to be thrown out once they stop holding a strong charge. Only the Karmic battery with the NTS Works technology is rebuildable. That's the biggest advantage of our bikes.

Looks like you spotted an easter egg Matt! We're not quite ready to talk about that project yet. ;)

Do eBikes Need a Racing Circuit?

    We're interested! Bingo!

It's pretty simple. You can send the battery pack back to us at anytime, and we'll rebuild it with brand new cells for half the cost of a new pack. This is the beauty of the NTS technology, and no other electric vehicle can do that. It's a truly sustainable design since we can fully recycle the...

    Karmic Bikes on YouTube!

Hi EBR! Just wanted to share our first video on YouTube. It was done by our friends at AutoDesk. We shot our Kickstarter video this past weekend and it should be up soon too. You can subscribe to our channel to get updates when we post more videos. Cheers, Hong

    steel ebike frames

I'm not selling you anything. You made condescending statements that were so basic and incorrect that I had to reply. You might think this is "spin" but I'm just trying to explain why aluminum is a great material. No need to get into a pissing match. Good night!

    steel ebike frames

I think you should read up on material properties before making blanket statements like, "Aluminum is not really all that strong and it is quite brittle." If this were true, they probably shouldn't make airplanes out of the stuff. I've owned custom made steel bikes, high-end carbon, and...

    steel ebike frames

Steel is a great material to make a cheaper ebike. Some customers may not notice the added weight, but aluminum is the industry standard for strong and light bicycles, electric or otherwise. You can't just compare the base material strengths, it's about optimizing your frame designs for the...

    Karmic Bikes on TechCrunch!

Oh sorry! I can't comment on the "future battery" but our small pack is targeting 15 miles real-world range. Our larger pack has been tested at over 30 miles of real-world range.

    Light e-bike?

Some people have expressed disbelief that my bike is 30lbs, so I took this video this morning: https://instagram.com/p/0spHoiDy8f/ Now this was a showcase build, with a lot of light weight (expensive) parts, but our stock bike should be around 36lbs.

    Karmic Bikes on TechCrunch!

We could make a superlight battery in a carbon fiber enclosure, but it would likely cost more than our complete bike. New battery tech is always coming out, but we're probably 2-5yrs away from the scenario you envision J.R.

    Karmic Bikes on TechCrunch!

You got it George! The newer 32E cells will get us some nice range, but they're not in production until later this summer. We will be showing more pics of the pack and it's parts on our Kickstarter campaign, it wasn't ready for this TechCrunch review. The Bafang is 4kg, which is closer to 9lbs...

    Karmic Bikes on TechCrunch!

Wow, that's high praise, appreciate your support! The small pack weighs about 4lbs (in the bag), but will be less than 5lbs even with our all-aluminum housing.

    Karmic Bikes on TechCrunch!

Sorry, wasn't ignoring anyone, we got a lot of emails yesterday as you can imagine. The reason we didn't mention the battery specs in the video is because we're still testing out different cells and configurations. Lenny has it right, with the 29E and 32E cells, we can get about 300 watt-hours...

    Karmic Bikes on TechCrunch!

Sorry, the bike is *not* carbon, that's a misquote by the reporter. It's an alloy frame with an optional carbon package (fork, bars, seatpost) to get the weight down. And I'll take it as a compliment that you think we just threw a motor on it and "called it a day." A lot of work was done to...
