    Go For $$ Or Not?

Numb wrists can be caused by a number of things. Some of it is the pressure of leaning over on your hands and pinching a nerve. Sometimes it's the angle of your wrists and forearm. I'm prone to having it, with all the abuse I've given my body over the years. On my motorcycle I solved the...

Best Charging Practice Townie Go/Bosch 400 Battery

I didn't want to make a big thing out of maintaining my battery but didn't want to abuse it either, so I did a lot of reading. From what I gather, the two worst things you can do are, to drain it completely, and store it fully charged. With that in mind I never let the battery drop below one...

    seat

I ride both a non electric road bike and an upright electric bike. For the road bike I have a slim, firm, elongated seat. For the e-bike, because I sit upright and want the most comfort possible, I have a shorter, wider, more padded seat and a Thud Buster seat post. Everyone's tush has...

Who's ebike riding could ALL be done on a regular bike?

I'm 72 and have both an e-bike and a road bike. Our road around here are a mix of steep hills and long flat straightaways. The variety of terrain makes for interesting riding but can be quite challenging at times. My regular ride is about 20 miles. At first I wasn't sure how the e-bike would...

    Go For $$ Or Not?

If you have money to spend and enjoy spending it on high end products that are slightly beter and more expensive, I'd say go for it. There is some satisfaction in that. Don't get me wrong, the Reis Muller makes a great bike but I know, I personally would live to regret it, knowing that there...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

The Ortliebs worked fine as far as mounting. If I have any fault with them it's that they are over engineered and over built. I didn't like the heavy material and found the roll up style of closing system a bit frustrating. I was always fighting with the closure clips for some reason. You...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I haven't done a lot with it. I added a thud buster seat post and got rid of that horrible seat. I was having a lot trouble with hand numbness. One of the things I did to help with that was to lower the bars a bit and also cut 1" 1/4" inchches of of each end. That brought my hands in so I...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have the original OEM chain and it is still with in tolerances. Did you cut your kickstand down? There is an adjustable part at the end to lengthen or shorten it but it's already as short as it will go. If I cut it down it, it looks like I'd have to redrill and tap the hole for the...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I weight 210 and ride on a mix of hills and flats. I'm still trying to understand why they cut the price on it to $2,700? It's been an exceptional bike for me for the past ten months. One flat and a mashed chain guard are the only issues I've had. That and the #$%&# kickstand. The bike has...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I have about 700 miles on mine and haven't had any issues with loose bolts or a worn chain. I would expect it to be harder on chains though with the extra torque but not in 500 miles. So far the only issue I've had is the chain jumping the front chain ring and damaging the plastic chain guard...

    FEWER flat tires please!

Thanks for digging up that information. I often wondered if thy actually worked or were similar to deer whistles that you put on your car's fender to frighten deer away? Some scintific reaserch is in order. The deer whistles turned out to be bogus.

    FEWER flat tires please!

Back in the day we had a simple device for road bikes that was a piece of stiff wire that was formed to rub over the surface of your tire tread and knock off any debris. It mounted to the brake bolt and was constantly in contact with the tire tread. Being just a piece of wire, it offered...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I removed the lock from my bike. That thing is a chunk. It's OK if you use it but I don't care for the way it works and I'm typically not going anywhere that I need a lock. When I do I throw one in my pannier.

    Cannondale Contro-e Short Review

My wife has the same bike and she hasn't had the problem with the bent guide yet but I'm thinking it might be a good idea to just go ahead and replace her's as well. I don't know how long they will be avaliable and once that plastic shield is bent it's a goner. I rode mine without a guard for...

Known Issues & Problems with Cannondale Products + Help, Solutions & Fixes

I just whacked 1 1/4" off of the ends of my handlebars. The Contro-e has a very wide set of handlebars that I found uncomfortable so I cut them back a bit and am finding the ride a lot more comfortable. It was a simple fix, just sawed it off and filed off the rough edges. I'm still strugling...

Guess I spent too much time on road bikes. That's a bit bulky for my tastes. CO2 for me.

Show us what's in your toolkit

I have one of the smallest hand pumps on the market that fits nicely into my kit. Had a flat yesterday and it took forever to inflate back up to a minimal pressure. Fortunately I also carry a CO2 cartridge inflator. My hand pump is actually only a back up. I've run out of CO2 before when I...

    Bike Seat

Yes, mess with the angle of the seat. It's different for different people. Level is a good place to start. I prefer mine angled slightly down. My groin area goes numb with it level.
