Stefan, We appreciate your passion for E-bikes, and there is a lot more to Torque ratings than nominal power ratings shared by these E-bike companies. Thanks for your kind words. We have been working hard to support the North American rider community. I am glad our efforts caught your eye. The user can configure the system to US spec, but the liability is on the end user, and we ship it configured according to Canadian laws.

@FiremarshallDave , as mentioned here, to reach 28mph requires active pedaling. We want our customers to enjoy pedaling / some workout and don't intend to design bikes meant for throttle use only. We use 2.4" tires on most of our bikes.

@FiremarshallDave , the Canadian standard is 32 kmph or 20 mph. All Photon Pure bikes shipped to the US would have a top speed of 45 kmph or 28 mph. The current state of the in 2170 cell is 5300 mAh or 5.3Ah but these cells are too expensive. What we use is 5000 mAh or 5 Ah cells from Samsung...

We are now using 300X thumb throttle which has bit more refinement in terms of throttle response. depending on the use case, the twist throttle can be very helpful.

Someone alerted me to this thread. An option you "might" want to consider is the Zen Photon Pro. It does have a throttle, mid-drive motor, Enviolo IGH, step-thru design. There is a detailed thread here. Some pictures below.

as Gionni mentioned, the bike has a throttle (actually, we have improved the throttle hardware from what you see in the picture) and the Rohloff E-shift is only limited to Bosch and Panasonic motors. As of now, no other motor works with Rohloff E-shift. Our Bosch-motor equipped Samurai works...
