    An old wives tale ???

I had the chain on an expensive Trek MTB break with about 1000 miles on it. The failure mechanism could not be determined because some of the failed chain pieces were lost in the bush. LBS said the remainder of the chain was in good condition, and while not common, broken chains are far from...

What is a fair way to compare an Ebike to a conventional bike? An eBike for an Amateur Cyclist.

My eBike is so much fun, I often forget to over-think the reasons why! :D

    new rad city issues

Make sure you have your bike seat level. Rad has a penchant for setting up their seats so they tilt back, which is guaranteed to be a pain in the "huevos". I noticed this in Court's review and you can see it clearly right on the current Rad City product page...

Why does every bike comes with Shimano components?

Oh, man. I had an early Trek 800 mountain bike with the Biopace chainrings! It seemed like a cool idea at the time.

"No fair." In so many ways!

My stock reply to such things is to smile broadly and say, "I know, right?" Along with a thumbs up if I can do it safely.

Add =your= thoughts for the short haul of groceries (and other stuff that helps you and your bike)

Some of the specialty grocers sell insulated shopping bags. I bought one at Whole Foods for $10 that has a zippered top. Fits my grocery bag pannier perfectly and keeps all my refrigerated items nice and cold even on 90+ degree days. I believe I have seen similar bags at Trader Joes. Of course...

Vendors and users, will you give your thoughts about ultra-visible ebike lighting?

The Case Against Bright-as-the-Sun Flashing Bike Lights Quote: ... though flashing lights may improve your chances of getting noticed, both studies found that they also make it harder for other road users to judge your speed and distance. In other words, the driver who thinks he’s got plenty...

    Best Lock for Ebikes

Cheaper, faster and far less noisy than an angle grinder is a Bic pen, which in the right hands can be used to open any tubular lock in a minute or two. Take note: the The Club Bike Lock uses a tubular lock. Faster and easier than a Bic pen is a special tubular lock "tool" (that is, pick set)...

    2016 Radwagon Chain Length

By the the time you have shifting or skipping issues due to a worn chain, you'll be in for replacing more than just the chain. In fact, if you replace just the chain at that time, the issues will most often get worse! Then again, the first issue some cyclists notice is the chain breaking. This...

Mirror for wide ergonomic handlebar grips

I have had several Mirrcycles and consider having one absolutely mandatory. They should work with any grip. Currently I am using a Mirrcycle with Ergon GP3 grips w/bar ends. Wonderful grips, btw, for those with sensitive hands.

    2016 Radwagon Chain Length

I think a lot of e-bikes need 2 chains to get to the right length. My 2012 iZip Zuma (cruiser-style bike) was that way.

Vendors and users, will you give your thoughts about ultra-visible ebike lighting?

I always ride with a headlight on (since around 2004). It definitely increases visibility to drivers and that usually translates to safer driving behaviors. Usually is not always, however. I am certain a small minority of drivers are contrary enough to go out of their way to cause problems for...

    Best Lock for Ebikes

I agree @jwt355 , the lock-picking lawyer changed my mind in a big hurry regarding what an adequate bike lock is. (Or, any adequate lock, for that matter.) As well, Wayne Winton's YouTube videos demonstrating his destructive testing of locks, chains, etc changed my mind in some other ways. For...

Radrover menu wheel size 26" or 28"?

I suspect you should select the setting on your bike's computer that is closest to the overall diameter of the tire+wheel combination. Keep in mind what the computer is doing to determine distance is counting revolutions and multiplying by the circumference of the tire (which is directly...

    RadCity Step-Thru Tire PSI Recommendation?

On the side of your tires you will find the pressure range over which the tire is designed to be operated. A good strategy is to start at the high end of the pressure range and then adjust according to conditions and personal preference. The higher the pressure the less rolling resistance, the...

frustrated rant: the more i learn the more i cant find an ebike

Just my quirky opinion, but I think there is a very good reason to put mid-grade drive components on an ebike, particularly mid drive bikes. And that reason is: it will be a lot more affordable to replace the drive components as they wear out. Shimano Deore, for instance, works well (I've had it...
