Do you carry an extra battery?

To me, it just makes good sense to have an extra on board. I didn't really think about it much until 6 months after buying the bike, it just died on me, leaving me to ride uphill back home. I was given a new battery by the company, but the experience stuck. Now, if get many miles from home and...

Do you carry an extra battery?

The newer batteries are going a lot further now. Won't be long before they all run 100+ miles per charge. I get 50 max. I figured it was time to replace the old one anyway. Been 2 years on it. I rotate them every month.

Do you carry an extra battery?

Yea, 35-40 miles is my comfort limit too. I'm in my 70s and had knees and shoulder replaced. Many hills where I am in Wa. A battery failure can be a real problem for me. Had it happen a few years ago. It's also nice not dealing with range anxiety anymore. For me, the tradeoff of extra weight is...

Do you carry an extra battery?

This summer I added a second battery and a rear cargo rack to my bike. The battery is big, 1000 watts, weighing 12 lbs. But so far I really don't notice any difference in performance from the extra weight. Well worth it as I go many miles from help of any kind. Having had one fail and having to...

    2 year Ecotric Seagull review

I just pinch the two pads together and slide them back in the caliper. They can only go one way and make a snap sound when in far enough. Throw the cotter pin back in and done, go ride. I sand my pads about once every summer. Just wipe down the rotors real good with alcohol after every ride and...

    2 year Ecotric Seagull review

Brake pads, I sand the smooth stuff off them every now and then. They last a long time, making no noise. The resin type, Shimano, you can find on Amazon. The steering I would let the pros at the bike shop fix. I don't mess with the running gear, electrical etc. I let them do the tuneups and...

    2 year Ecotric Seagull review

ez-didn't they send you a new battery? Thought you said they did. I added a second battery to the rear rack. Nice to have the extra miles if needed. I get mine tuned up once a year and the brakes bled. New chain with wax lube. total cost: about $150.00. Well worth it. My Schwalbe tires are still...

    Bad battery or safety feature?

I try not to take down that far. It's hard on them. I usually make a 33 mile ride and end up coming in with 3 bars left. I spend most of the ride in pos 3 and some 4 on big hills. I did add an extra 15 lbs. By adding the back rack and extra battery.

I thought Class 3 would feel safer on the road

Ben, I'm also in Wa. and just ride at my own pace. I ignore the speed of traffic, but I'm usually in bike lanes or on trails. If you try to keep up with car's you lose, every time. On streets without bike lanes I just hug the curb and roll along at my normal 15 mph. Trying to keep up with cars...

    Ebike Has 300 Mile Range

Sounds like he'd be a whole lot of fun at a party. Swapping lies and bragging on all night. Lol that bike was made strictly for bragging rights.

    Ebike Has 300 Mile Range

Good point. 80 miles? Wow, I have suspension in front, under the saddle, and a big gel seat and my ass is screaming at 40 miles. lol. Then again I'm an old guy who only bikes during good summer weather. That long range bike may work good in a place like Australia.

    Ebike Has 300 Mile Range

In the near future, the bike batteries will all go 300 miles on a single charge. Battery technology is moving fast now thank's to more e powered vehicles. Can't come soon enough.

    Ebike Has 300 Mile Range

I have a 1000 watt bike, 75 lbs. that can easily go 40 miles over major hills and flatlands. I don't work real hard at it, just moderate exercise with me peddling, but not not hard enough to work up a lather. I would enjoy having more than 7 gears, but that's OK, I'm not a road racer. I adverage...

    Winter Sucks

I've done some winter riding but even with warm clothes it was just not a fun ride. I don't like the extra clothes needed to stay warm. T-shirts, shorts and nice warm sun on my face, mp3 with great music in my ears, and it's summertime meditation going down the road and through the woods...

    Winter Sucks

65-95 f is my temps. No rain, snow, high winds or battery busting mega heat. I have a nice warm car for those winter days. For me, a good ride means nice sunny weather and warm summer nights.

Why Roadies Don't Smile-funny article I just read

They can wear clear cellophane or nothing at all and might move even quicker. Point is, when people smile, wave or say hello, the adverage human will respond in a friendly way. Is raising a few fingers off the death grip too hard to do or asking too much? Common courtesy for fellow riders is a...

    Lights Save Lives

It can be a little dangerous but I find a lot less cars on the city streets late at night. We only use bike lanes. Just depends where you live. For night rides my gf and I have lots of lights on. She has spoke lights plus double front and rear lights. I use 3 in front, 2 red on each side of rear...

    Ecotric Leopard Throttle issue

My gf just bought the Leopard to keep up with my Seagull. She's doing like me and added Schwalbe tires as well as getting the Jones H bar put on. We added a suspension seat post for more comfort. Don't know why Ecotric makes no fenders or racks for this model. She hasn't ridden it yet and I was...
