How to get a simple list of the threads I am following?

I assume that no replies in two weeks means that this is not possible with this forum software. That's too bad. The simple list is so much more useful.

Is there a bike lock that is clearly better

Is there any particular bike lock brand or type of lock that is clearly better than any other? If it happened to be easy to use, so much the better. I assume it is not enough to merely lock the wheels. It is also necessary to lock the frame to a post or bike rack. Right?

    Giro Ethos helmet

The Piro Ethos weighs 10 oz, which is the same as their more basic model. That doesn't seem "unnecessarily heavy" to me.

    Giro Ethos helmet

It takes 1-2 seconds to touch the turn signal button. I can't see how that could be much of a distraction from driving. Which seems like a good argument for including as many indicators as possible. I'll look into those. Thanks

    Giro Ethos helmet

I doubt I will be riding much at night if at all. And I am over 200 lbs, so the weight is not that much of a factor.

    Giro Ethos helmet

    The Ethos is MIPS rated.

    Giro Ethos helmet

You have a point. The Ethos would have to be recharged as would the transmitter. I do like the idea of lights on the helmet. My head will be moving which means that the lights will be moving which means that I will be more visible. The one I tried on in the shop didn't seem any heavier than any...

Bike tires? Puncture proof? Skid proof?

    Very helpful, thanks

Bike tires? Puncture proof? Skid proof?

Thanks. And how does that occur? I only ride residential streets and am pretty careful to avoid debris and holes in the road. Does it mostly only happen at fairly high speeds?

What exact;y is a "pinch flat"?

Bike tires? Puncture proof? Skid proof?

I am very surprised that tiny wires really work their way into bike tires. In any case, this is probably much less likely on neighborhood streets, especially those suggested by Google Maps for cycling routes. Since I have been using Google Maps to choose my routes, I actually see much less...

Bike tires? Puncture proof? Skid proof?

When I first read your comment about the "tiny little wires from radial tire belts", I thought you were talking about tiny wires in the road that had come out of car tires. Silly me. A quick search taught me that they are from your own bike tires as they wear out. If these wires are showing...

    Knee and elbow pads?

Not at all. I never felt that there has been excessive "drama". There have been some fairly strong opinions and some disagreements, but that's normal and a sign that the forum is serious. I have very much enjoyed the dialog and have learned quite a bit that will be valuable to me in choosing a...

    Knee and elbow pads?

I don't want to start a private conversation. If it isn't appropriate for the whole group, I don't want to hear it. I haven't read your PM and don't plan to. If appropriate, you can repost here. In the meantime, I did a (very) little research. I found this table from the Insurance Institute for...

    Knee and elbow pads?

I think it would be instructive to complete the table in my previous post or one something like it. I am confident that the odds of injury and the severity thereof while wearing protective gear is significantly lower than without that gear and the difference, if any, due to car drivers treating...

What does "dogs to roll" mean?

Bike tires? Puncture proof? Skid proof?

The C380 has shock absorbers, so that might offset any of the harsher ride. And one of my primary objectives is to get in better shape, so if I have to work a little harder, I am fine with that.

    Knee and elbow pads?

In my reading of your comments, I didn't think that you were explicitly advocating against helmet use, but my overall impression was that you were at least a little skeptical about their value. I believe that your comments could be interpreted, possibly misinterpreted, by someone that helmets...

Bike tires? Puncture proof? Skid proof?

Which is why I am liking the Tannus airless tires!
