    Bollard Posts from Hell

While I like to think I've learned a few lessons in bollard avoidance since my crash, a few others have been less fortunate. A friend in Ca. forwarded this news story my way: https://www.pressdemocrat.com/article/news/santa-rosa-bicyclists-death-shines-light-on-danger-of-trail-traffic-device/

Considering buying the Current, how hard is it to get the electronics repaired

I could not agree more. I went through an expensive learning curve before happily acquiring my Current last year. PickleGarf could spend 2x the price, and still deal with maintenance issues. Priority's service has been top notch. I also ride more than 50% of the time on dirt roads and rail...

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

Very well said. The Lite and the 2.0 are different machines for different needs, and the "coffee-rant" comparison only makes sense if you're comparing bike value by bulk or by the pound...or for features someone might or might not care about. A lot of people love the 2.0. I get it. The only...

Stuff I added to my Priority Current

Yup. I ride on hard pack dirt and gravel frequently, which is a bit more rough riding than the Current was built for. I've resisted suspension add-ons though. I've never ridden a bike with suspension posts of any kind, and afraid my hardened hide would be spoiled going forward. :)

Stuff I added to my Priority Current

I had been in the habit of traveling with either a small backpack or utility belt to carry my stuff. I followed my friends lead last week (she followed mine last month and bought a Current herself) and purchased a Topeak rack from an LBS. I had been gifted one of their MTX rigid bags last year...

    Who's got a Current?

I just re-watched Court's review of the Como SL from last year, and reminded that the battery range based on actual specs (not range claims) is pretty stingy, and the battery is not easily removable. It's a pretty nice bike, but I would choose the Current again even if the Specialized sold at...

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

It will blend perfectly with your Hyundai! I certainly didn't need the Lite either, but at the price point, it was hard to resist as an easy to access and store 2nd bike. The number of times I actually folded a bike prior to this I could count on one hand. It's a clumsy process, no? It's...

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

Thanks for sharing your experience too, Tom. Lectric is sending some 3mm tape to insert at the bottom of the battery so it fits more securely in the frame. As you suggested though, it might just take a bit more breaking in. Inasmuch as I dislike the aesthetics of bolted on batteries (such as...

    Bollard Posts from Hell

I was about to give this a try (and it can't look any goofier than my helmet anyway, so the aesthetics don't matter to me) but Amazon lists three versions: Original, improved version, and compact. Which do you have?

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

I just put my Lite together. Everything in order, but two issues: I can't close the frame with the battery inserted unless I turn the bike upside down, as someone on Reddit with the same issue suggested. It closes easily without the battery inside, so I'm guessing the battery isn't seated...

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

Thanks! I was able to hop on the Propella Mini (also step over) without much of an issue the other day. 20'' tires help a lot. My hip mobility is diminished but improving daily, so I should be able to deal with it. On another note, Kev Central tested the Lite's hill climbing ability the...

    Bollard Posts from Hell

It was good for my first couple of hundred times too. I got a little distracted by a stop sign posted 10 feet away and directly in front of the bollard post opening. (10 feet is about a second when riding). My main beef though is about the necessity of having them altogether when there is...

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

Thanks for this, eDean. Excellent! The cadence on the Propella Mini I purchased (now in the possession of a grand kid, so my only enjoyment of that bike going forward will be vicarious) seems pretty similar, but that bike lacks a throttle. I found myself mainly riding that bike in PAS 3 most...

Lectric XP Lite first impressions (I'll update this after I ride)

I watched as much of his over-caffeinated rant as I could, which admittedly was not the whole thing. I don't really know what he's raving about. Yes, a good chunk of the $799 a consumer pays covers advertising, marketing, and the man hours (R&D) to bring this product to fruition. It's no...

    New XP Lite...

Thanks for this very thorough "first impressions" review. There is nothing you mention that would deter me from getting one, knowing that it is a different beast altogether than my Priority Current. My only slight disappointment is that "molasses" sensation without PAS. Does PAS 1 feel like...

Lectric Mid Drive? Hmm.. Game changer?

Micah is a great resource, and I learned some things watching this video. Very informative, as you said. I don't think it was his intention though to discourage anyone from buying a mid drive. ( My takeaway lesson was never to start pedaling at the highest gear. I usually don't do that...

Lectric Mid Drive? Hmm.. Game changer?

Can you provide a link to the informative video? I ride a mid drive, so I'm curious to know why they're too much trouble. Maybe I'm missing something. Thanks! That's a good point. 61 lbs. isn't light, but it's manageable, and Lectric made battery access much simpler on this bike.

    Who's got a Current?

My starting default is 3rd gear and 3 PAS, assuming I'm paying attention. Smooth as silk and quick. (Once I get rolling, I tend to ride in 5th gear, and alternate between 2 and 3 PAS). Even at higher starting PAS levels, I don't notice the kind of lurching or "jolt" common to the rear hub...

Lectric Mid Drive? Hmm.. Game changer?

Yesterday I suggested the XPremium to a friend that seems enamored with this style of bike. It doesn't appeal to me, but I understand why others are attracted to bikes like this. Personally, I don't care for fat tire handling (or lack of it) and like its 2.0 sibling, it's likely too heavy to...

    New XP Lite...

I'd like to read your take. I bought a Propella Mini as a 2nd bike with the same practical objectives, but now that a 12 year old grand kid has her hands on it, I might not be getting it back anytime soon. I might buy one of these Lites now and keep it for myself. At this price point, a...
