My understanding is the batteries themselves are interchangeable between the two models so it would make sense thwt the keys are as well, but perhaps something to fully confirm with Lectric customer service.

i think maybe some ppl with really expensive bikes have to put down the entry level ones to rationalize their spending and also to separate themselves from “amateurs”…. we are a culture that LOVES to make both broad generalizations and create divisiveness.

given the peculiarities of how to charge, store, cycle these batteries i’d probably be seeking an affordable smart charger at a cost effective price in addition to battery upgrades themselves. similar to grin.

@Ken M interesting development, i could see this come along in North America as well. Some form of overt control actually affecting the operation of the ebike. This is why i am careful about what i wish for.

battery standardization would go a long way towards accelerating ebike adoption. proprietary batteries and a lack of standardization is kind of silly. batteries are a commodity.

some how i don’t see alibaba or aliexpress establishing the distribution footprint amazon essentially controls now. that distribution is a key advantage, something that cannot be overcome merely with 3rd party carriers.

regulating speed of ebikes seems to be the objective of the 3 classifications and to make it easier for municipalities to then control speeds on certain ways using those classifications. Absent the 3 class system municipalities i’d expect will want to seek a new way to retain this control...
