Builder gone to the dark side.

Before buying my ebike a year ago, I'd been riding a Trek Pure Sport. Like the Townie, the crank is well forward of (not below) the seat, even forward of the seatpost (which they set less upright, too). The rider sits low enough to have both feet just about flat on the ground while still in...

Encinitas City Council declares emergency for e-bikes, bicycles

Did you notice that those articles tell how beneficial immigrants in general are, but do not address the more specific category of undocumented immigrants? I say immigrants are great, let 'em come, but let's make sure they're documented and also a bit vetted. It would reduce that slavery you...

Encinitas City Council declares emergency for e-bikes, bicycles

Undocumented immigrants welcome; ebikes, not so much!

How is purely torque-sensing PAS actually implemented?

Don't some mfrs feel that a brake sensor was helpful for telling the motor to stop driving the bike when a person wants to stop? ☺️ Didn't know this could turn into a pissing contest: "My ebike has more sensors than yours!" 🤣

How's the bike infrastructure where you ride?

And no swimmers, obviously. o_O But yes, a pretty view. Especially with all the little "ice cubes" floating in the "drink."

    Step thru looking good!

Yes, class 3. The controller will allow it to be set as high as 32 mph, but I am no speed freak so I haven't tried that. I have changed the PAS settings a bit, though; they're all user settable (how many PAS levels, and percent power for each level).

    Step thru looking good!

My Ride1Up LMTD ST with 750W rear hub will hold 21-22 mph on throttle, on the level or on a mild upward incline. Oddly, if I ghost pedal it will go faster still. I'm satisfied with a rear hub. Less expense than mid drive is the main advantage. But one time the chain flipped off just as I...

What brand is that mirror? Looks somewhat easier to get the desired adjustment than the one I have.

Looking for input/advice on first e-bike

My nearby LBS looked at my R1Up and said it looked good quality. They said no problem working on it. R1Up has 3 models under $1500 (mine's currently listed at $1700 though). Besides, many owners are handy enough to do their own repairs... they even can do a lot of fixing on a cheap ebike like...

Looking for input/advice on first e-bike

I have a Ride1Up LMTD. Differences that stand out in comparison to the Mokwheel: mine weighs 20+ lb less and has 2.3" tires, no fenders or rack, and the battery is somewhat smaller. Otherwise fairly similar. I've read that 4" tires tend to feel like they want to steer themselves (not as...

    Specialized/Brose motor failures?

Some bike shops simply have an attitude: if you want us to service your ebike, do us the courtesy of buying it from us; otherwise forget it. I test rode a couple of ebikes at a shop like that and they told me right at the start what their policy was (they didn't know me from Adam, so how could...
