Bike takes off without engaging throttle

I've found that different controllers (and throttles) react differently to erroneous HAL signals. Most resistors aren't affected substantially by water, that's why you don't get the same behavior. I'm not really sure why bike makers don't use variable resistance in throttles instead of the HAL...

    Hauling With Tie-down Straps

IMO, it isn't likely you would do any damage by compressing the front suspension during transport. Ultimately, it will depend on the quality of the forks. It is possible to bend something when cinching down one side at a time though. I used these tire straps to transport my motorcycles. They...

Wouldn't it be easier (and less painful) to buy a belt, instead of nailing up you pants? 😄

NYC wants to license and register ebikes and scooters

I don't see how these laws will reduce e-bike accidents, unless they reduce the number of people riding them. It would be interesting to see just how Denmark arrived at those published safety statistics. The "outlaw" riders are just that, and will largely ignore the laws. Most have little to...

    I want a better cycle bag ?

I found a rectangular plastic container that fit snugly in my old "floppy" handlebar bag. It was waterproof and kept the camera gear safe & dry. It got to be a hassle opening and closing the lid though. Much easier with a zippered bag.

    I want a better cycle bag ?

I use this one from Arkel for my camera gear: https://arkel.ca/collections/handlebar-bags/products/handlebar-bag Comes in 2 sizes and is practically crush proof. Unfortunately, it's made in Canada and is now quite expensive due in part to the tarrifs.

Do cell phone holders damage phones?

I don't mount the phone on the bike either, but for a different reason. I keep it in my pocket in case I'm thrown off. If I'm injured and can't get to the bike, I can still call for help. It's also nice to have the phone on your person in case the bike is stolen. I use cheaper bike mounted...

Anyone Tried a Dryft Board Yet?

Looks to me like it's designed for skate parks and large open paved areas. Certainly wouldn't work on unpaved trails or MUP's

Replacing throttle with push button - low speed

Your circuit may work on some 3 wire hall sensor throttles, but as @harryS says, it will depend on the controller. In my case, I used a simple voltage divider with variable resistor to emulate the hall effect. I couldn't get it to work unless I first disconnected the throttle from the...

How Often Do You Replace Your E-Bike Battery?

Since your bike uses a Shimano 6010 battery, I assume it also uses a 36V Shimano controller. Any 36V controller will accept voltages slightly above 42V and should not have a problem with the 40V DeWalt batteries. Since the batteries are fused individually, it isn't likely they would be damaged...

How Often Do You Replace Your E-Bike Battery?

I agree but the OP's Shimano 6010 battery isn't Bosch compatible. His is likely a Shimano system, which may or not work with the DeWalt batteries either.

How Often Do You Replace Your E-Bike Battery?

If you're serious and want to try it, you could use two 20V 5AH DeWalt tool batteries in series to give almost half the capacity of the 36V 6010 battery. If your battery mount on the bike looks like this and the distance between the pin centers is .25", You should be able to use this 4 pin...

How Often Do You Replace Your E-Bike Battery?

I agree. A couple of my 8 year-old batteries have lost around 10% of capacity and I compensate by carrying a spare. For most rides, it's just a small 4AH, usually a cordless tool battery. As capacity diminishes further, I'll carry 2 spares etc. They're small, fairly light and easy to carry...

    First time out this year

Yesterday was my first time out this spring. did 42 miles on the D&H Rail Trail with a 600' elevation gain. Thought I would be able to coast most of the way back but I picked up a 15 - 20 mph headwind. Glad I brought the spare battery!

    left foot forward?

I don't do single track or downhill anymore so pedal strikes aren't a problem. I coast with one foot down to take some weight off my sore butt. Whichever leg is down is the one that hurts the least.
