    Luna X2 - First Impressions

I did a few write-ups on wheelbuilding: https://myrandomthoughts.net/ebike-wheelbuilding/ including component selection. YMMV, but for ebike, I'd stick to DT Swiss or Onyx w/sprag clutch but YMMV.

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

Really depends on riding style, but also consider pad compound as well. Yeah lol - I'm aware of the Magura colored inserts, but I'm not convinced I want Maguras at this point. I would not spend high dollar on group sets as the ebikes will still chew them up. If considering going to Shimano...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

I did the same - I think my Trail profile is set to max of 35A, haven't 'needed' to raise it for actual usage.

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

Hyperglide (HG) is pretty much the long-running Shimano standard. Originally you couldn't run a 12 speed cassette on it, and Shimano pushed Microspline if you wanted to do a Shimano 12s. Meanwhile, SRAM and others offer 12s setups for Shimano HG freehubs. HG freehubs can get some 'spline...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

Yeah, first set was basically to move to known near-bulletproof hubs (DT350) and wanted to give the i40 rim width a try. The X2 wheelset seems decent if heavy overall, with a few people eventually wearing out the rear hubs. Have done some fairly unique long motorcycle trips over time...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

This one doesn’t look bad. The one Tom posted comes in ‘left and right’ and at least for me, I found to take up too much width on the bars vs how I wanted my control placement - this one looks reasonable, although I’m running a skinnier one courtesy of @JRA

This one, with a small cutout I added for the shock mount. https://www.amazon.com/FAHRER-Akku-eBike-Battery-Cover/dp/B07656Y8QM

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

Luna sells the S, M and L but not XL frames for the X2. https://www.dengfubike.com/pages/e10-geometry

What lights are you using on your Watt Wagon? What about helmet lights?

I've got the RockBros rear light with accelerometer for 'brake light' behavior along with auto-on/off. Loving it so far after playing around with a couple of others. There are a few different mounting options on these, including a kit with all mounts in it if you look around a bit. I used the...

    New Team Hydra Member

Looks to be a Fox Float X2. Note most shocks can be installed in 'either direction' and orientation - of course, as long as the piggyback clears linkage and frame, etc. https://www.vitalmtb.com/product/guide/Rear-Shocks,35/FOX/FLOAT-X2-Factory-2020,31964

    Hydra as a commuter?

Just adding .02c on lighting. Went through a couple but am currently quite happy with this as a rear light. It's light, has an accelerometer for brake light behavior, and simply unscrews from the mount to recharge. It also has auto-off and auto-on. Not bad IMO for $25...

    Luna X2 Impressions (Hydra Comparison)

Might want to check the Luna forum on EBR and their own forums as well. Here's my X2 writeup: Luna X2 - First Impressions No issues of significance with mine to date. Replaced seat, dropper, shifter and swapped in a DVO for the rear shock. I'd buy mine again today.

    Hydra as a commuter?

Been looking at the oneup pedals on and off, or pretty much - a step up from the several ‘RockBrothers’(China but decent-ish $30-35 pedal sets) I’ve had, and keep waffling, as I think the CrankBros are overpriced for their composites at least and have only really come across the RC and the...

    Ebike rack

I went ahead and ordered a SuperDuty double 2”. Downside is the weight and not sure I can ever get a 2” hitch for my turbo Miata, which would be for single bike only, but also not positive I want to put a hitch on that anyways. Worst case is I pick up a single separate later. I did consider...

    Luna X2 - First Impressions

Amusingly, almost identical to what IOU said. I’ve got silicon/di-electric grease on connections and have been meaning to also heat-shrink the upper display connection. I yank the battery, and have a velcro neoprene wrap I put over it if doing a longer trip. I also put a dab of silicone...

    Hydra as a commuter?

So the single bad(ish) accident my wife and I have seen riding around since going ebikes was on a greenway, two girls on the side of a path, one looking in not-so-great shape. Came up on them, pulled off to see if they needed help, etc. Rear wheel came off the bike...somehow. At least part of...

    Hydra as a commuter?

Have a few SpyderCo's here and there, but current EDC is a Benchmade Rift 950. Liked it so much I've got a second as backup... would be thrilled if they made a slightly smaller version, but it's fine including for clipping onto a pair of shorts' pocket even. Mine's quite a bit more beat-up...

    Hydra as a commuter?

Just seconding 'all of this' ^. Your wheels should not be continuously pinging. Absolutely a sign the wheels weren't de-stressed during or even after the build. There's all kinds of near-religious debate on the use of various spoke preps - from linseed oil, Loc-tite (blue), various others...

Worth the wait, Hydra is here.

The LudiV2 is a bespoke controller for Luna, not an off-the-shelf/pre-existing VESC controller. In reality, doesn't matter all that much, other than of course the layout of the board (i.e. the LudiV2 replaces the Bafang internal controller and fits inside the M600 motor case). The HW/sw...
