Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

GX Eagle AXS upgrade day! 🤔 maybe a waste of 400 english pounds as it does not feel like an upgrade at all so far. Quieter? definitely not, in fact dropping the rear wheel from stationary from about 4 inches off the ground produces alarming drivetrain rattles when previously all I heard was...

    2025 Vado

With Future shock and upgraded tubeless 700x42 Pathfinder Pro I cannot imagine needing anything more if riding on the road. Some of the roads in Surrey UK are truly awful and the bike and tires handle it all with aplomb.

    2025 Vado

The Vado SL 5.0 can be bought for £2800 at quite a few places in the UK. That narrows the gap to the 4.0 and to my mind is worth the money for the following reasons: - DT Swiss R500 tubeless ready wheelset - GX Eagle 12 speed - Future shock - Carbon fork - Mastermind TCU - Upgraded brakes

Has anybody cut down the handle bar length? Cannot help feeling approximately half inch off each side would be perfect.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

I just realised that the seat post needs to be able to route the rear light cable on the SL 5.0. If that is not possible then it is a no go.

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

Interesting, I like to give my SL 5.0 a little present every now and again and a carbon seat post could well be an option in the future, a little less weight and a little more compliance maybe - which one did you get may I ask?

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The upgrade kits only comprise of the derailleur, the controller and a battery charger. I didn't think there was any special requirement for a XX1 cassette?

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

So I am pretty much decided that my next upgrade for my Vado SL 5 will be the Eagle AXS upgrade. In the UK the GX upgrade kit is around 400 pounds (~520 USD) but I have seen a couple of very heavily discounted XX1 upgrade kits for around 550 pounds We all like shiny things of course, is the XX1...

Vado SL 2 Carbon LTD premiered today!

What a curious bike. They added a carbon frame and SL 1.2 as many asked and then completely negated the benefits with a heavier battery and fat trekking tires.

Did you ever explore the possibility of keeping the system charged via the bikes battery? Also, I am assuming the upgrade did not affect the warranty? 🤔

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

It looks horrible as an EQ Carbon and SL1.2 sounds good, but for that price?

Would the SRAM GX Eagle AXS Upgrade Kit fit straight on the Vado SL 5? https://singletrackworld.com/2023/01/sram-gx-axs-review/ Sounds like a fantastic upgrade from that review. Expensive at RRP but with a discount it would be tempting.

Will 700x47c Pathfinder Pro 2Bliss Ready tyres fit on a Turbo Vado SL 5?

I have to say I am super impressed with the Pathfinder Pro 42 in a tubeless configuration - an essential upgrade for Vado SL owners in my opinion. I used to avoid drain covers previously, now I ride straight over them 😄

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

The motor noise is the only thing that annoys me now as well. It is only since I have started doing fast fitness rides and switch off the motor that I realise what a lovely smooth and quiet bike it is. If the SL 1.2 really is much quieter whilst also being more powerful then I suspect it would...

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

These do seem to be the neatest solution. I can install one of these against the wall that I park the bike. The heater would be very close to the bike frame and hopefully put out just enough heat to take the chill off the immediate area.

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

I ride my bike at least once a day, sometimes two or three as it is my primary mode of transport - this will continue over winter. Sub zero temperatures are quite a regular thing in the UK from Dec - March.

Winter is coming: how do I protect the battery?

Recently got my first e-bike, a Specialized Vado SL and I am very happy with it, currently stored in a converted brick coal shed that is the perfect size to store 2 bikes. I understand it is important to keep the battery above zero degrees in winter and I am planning ahead how to achieve this...

Aftermarket rack and fenders for Turbo Vado SL

I just put a SKS X-Blade rear mudguard on mine. I think it suits the bike quite well. Regarding a rack, I would have thought anyone needing to use one regularly has probably bought the wrong bike.

Were You Moving Away From E-Bikes, What Traditional Bicycle Would You Buy?

Before clicking buy on my Vado SL 5.0 I was sorely tempted by a Specialized Sirrus X 6.0. 20lbs Funky Gloss black stealthy carbon frame 1x12 GX Eagle Get a carbon wheel set down the line and tubeless tyres and that weight would drop into the high teens. Usually in a sale so can be picked up for...

Specialized Turbo Vado SL: An Incredible E-Bike (User Club)

Got the Crankbrothers Stamp 1s fitted today and I am really pleased with them, so much better than the stock pedals. I got the small and they are perfect size for me. - prefer the fact that they are composite so they shouldn't chip so bad and look scruffy after 6 months. Thanks Stefan for the...
