With Future shock and upgraded tubeless 700x42 Pathfinder Pro I cannot imagine needing anything more if riding on the road. Some of the roads in Surrey UK are truly awful and the bike and tires handle it all with aplomb.

The Vado SL 5.0 can be bought for £2800 at quite a few places in the UK. That narrows the gap to the 4.0 and to my mind is worth the money for the following reasons: - DT Swiss R500 tubeless ready wheelset - GX Eagle 12 speed - Future shock - Carbon fork - Mastermind TCU - Upgraded brakes

Has anybody cut down the handle bar length? Cannot help feeling approximately half inch off each side would be perfect.

I just realised that the seat post needs to be able to route the rear light cable on the SL 5.0. If that is not possible then it is a no go.

Interesting, I like to give my SL 5.0 a little present every now and again and a carbon seat post could well be an option in the future, a little less weight and a little more compliance maybe - which one did you get may I ask?

The upgrade kits only comprise of the derailleur, the controller and a battery charger. I didn't think there was any special requirement for a XX1 cassette?

What a curious bike. They added a carbon frame and SL 1.2 as many asked and then completely negated the benefits with a heavier battery and fat trekking tires.

Did you ever explore the possibility of keeping the system charged via the bikes battery? Also, I am assuming the upgrade did not affect the warranty? 🤔

I have to say I am super impressed with the Pathfinder Pro 42 in a tubeless configuration - an essential upgrade for Vado SL owners in my opinion. I used to avoid drain covers previously, now I ride straight over them 😄

These do seem to be the neatest solution. I can install one of these against the wall that I park the bike. The heater would be very close to the bike frame and hopefully put out just enough heat to take the chill off the immediate area.

I ride my bike at least once a day, sometimes two or three as it is my primary mode of transport - this will continue over winter. Sub zero temperatures are quite a regular thing in the UK from Dec - March.
