Some Wild and Wacky Electric Velomobiles

Here is a whole crop of new enclosed electric bikes including some wacky retro styled ones: http://www.gizmag.com/morgan-threewheeler-velomobile/38225/ I am not sure what the exhaust pipes are for on this one! http://www.gizmag.com/mo-solar-electric-velomobile/41345/pictures#3...

    Interesting Company

I agree with this completely. It would have been hard for me to imagine how much enjoyment I was going to get from my Magnum Ui5 before I bought it. Now that I own an ebike, I am glad I just jumped in and bought one. Sure, someday I will probably move on to something different, but in the...

Any suggestions on comfortable pedals ?

I second the Wellgo MG-1 recommendation. They are very wide and comfortable and also grippy, especially with my Five Ten biking shoes. I find I can pedal much faster without my feet tending to fly off the pedals, which is handy if I want to keep pedaling when my gears spin out going down hills.

    Road Bike

Well, one thing about the ShareRoller is that if it does break, it would be very easy to dismount the unit and send it in for repairs. And in the meantime, you would still have your normal and probably lighter weight bike available to ride. If a heavy dedicated ebike's electric assist system...

Mag Lev bike makes the entire wheel into the motor

Clever idea: use the rim of the wheel as part of the motor. There is a working prototype that has 500 watts of power and only weighs 26 pounds, but is probably going to be prohibitively expensive: Further details are in these two articles...

Who needs a bottle cage with these cageless bottles!

Court is always bemoaning the lack of mounts for water bottle cages on most ebikes. But here is a way around this problem, a bottle that clips onto the frame by itself: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2107107795/clipon-bottle-the-perfect-bottle-for-every-bicycle

Interesting new Italian electric semi-recumbent on Kickstarter

Hey, different strokes for different folks :p Years ago, I built a semi-recumbent bicycle out of a couple of regular bike frames and enjoyed it a lot. In a lot of ways the seating position is much more comfortable and also safer than a typical bike. It is not as efficient for climbing, but then...

Interesting new Italian electric semi-recumbent on Kickstarter

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/pmzero-kickstarter/pmzero-wellness-electric-bicycle-and-not-electric Not sure why they always seem to grossly exaggerate the range. This bike claims 50-75 miles with an 11 ah battery.

The ShareRoller is another approach to adding electric power to almost any bike that you can also easily remove if you want to sometimes ride your bike without electric assist: http://igg.me/at/shareroller/x/12713097

ShareRoller - Quick and Dirty Electric Bikes

The latest version of the Shareroller has three sizes of battery and also the batteries pop on and off of the drive like the batteries on cordless power tools. So with the largest battery and/or with one or more spare batteries along for the ride, you will not have to worry too much about range...

New article in The Guardian about ebikes

http://www.theguardian.com/sustainable-business/2016/jan/29/e-bikes-are-reliable-and-healthy-so-why-arent-more-people-riding-them#comment-67745438 It is always interesting to read the comments and see some of the misconceptions out there about ebikes.

    Changing speeds while riding

I live in a hilly area and I am almost constantly changing gears. I like to pedal at a fairly constant and fast rate, so I use the gears to keep the level of effort constant, both uphills and down. My bike has only 7 gears that shift on the right, and so I use my left hand to also tweak the...

    Purchased new Magnum Mi5

I have the Ui5 which I believe has the same battery, and I can share that the first two bars out of six on the display last much longer than the last two bars. My guesstimate is that when I first hit four bars that I have about 50% of the charge left. When I hit two bars, I am almost out and...
