    Regen on EBikes

It seems that carrying a second battery or getting a very large first battery makes more sense than regen to accomplish that long a ride on hilly terrain....or both regen and a second battery. I don't think regen by itself is going to increase range enough

    Throttle vs. No throttle

I have gotten very used to using my throttle to get started from a complete stop. It works no matter what gear I am in since I have a hub motor. That is usually the only time I use it, but it is nice to have.

    All-Rounder for Hawaii ?

That dealer seems to have a wide range of ebikes, so trying some of them will probably help you narrow down your choices.

    All-Rounder for Hawaii ?

I am not that familiar with the Elby brand. By the way, when you need to ride 50 miles in one day, can you charge your battery after riding part of the way, i.e. at work? That would allow a wider range of ebikes that would work for you, as you might not need to have a full 50 miles of range...

    Best time to buy?

It seems to me that a lot of shops and manufacturers have end of year sales, and winter is also naturally a slow time of year for any bike shop. You might still be able to find some 2016 models on sale.

E-Wheels -- Does anyone have experience with e-wheels?

Here is an early review of the Geo-Orbital that unfortunately is not based on personal experience: https://electricbike-blog.com/2016/05/03/the-geoorbital-ebike-wheel-turn-your-bike-into-a-tron-lightcycle/ However, the reviewer questions putting the wheel on a carbon fiber fork. There is some...

    All-Rounder for Hawaii ?

The Bulls Six50 E2 might be a good candidate. Along with wider tires, it has a front suspension fork which also helps with rough pavement, although you might want to add a suspension seatpost also for even more comfort. And a mid-drive is often better for climbing. It has really good range...

    All-Rounder for Hawaii ?

It would help to also know your price range, your body weight, and any other specific preferences. There are so many ebikes now, that anything that will narrow down the choices is helpful.

Is there an eBike that will allow me to maintain 28mph?

At speeds above 20 mph, one legal way to boost your average speed and total range is to add a fairing to your bike: http://www.zzipper.com/ Another way to get higher speeds is to use an aerodynamic recumbent bike. Both of these factors improve aerodynamics, which becomes the major limiting...

    the Add-e from Austria

Yes, it was crowd-funded project last year and now they are busy preparing for production. Once it is actually available, they should have ordering available again. The latest info from the company is that they should start shipping in mid-March, but there have been many delays up to now...

    Gi FlyBike

You might be able to get most of the way to this bike by adding a front hub motor to this model: https://www.montaguebikes.com/product/allston/ And you would have a bike with 11 gears and hydraulic brakes.

    the Add-e from Austria

I trust you have seen the reviews on here: https://electricbikereview.com/add-e/250w-kit/ https://electricbikereview.com/add-e/600w-kit/ There are also questions with any friction drive as to how long the drive's surface will last, and also how long the tire being driven will last. Also there...

durability of carbon fiber fork with front wheel motors

I have no personal experience, but there is some discussion here, with the consensus being that it is probably not a good idea: http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/is-it-safe-to-fit-a-motor-to-carbon-forks.7435/ You do not want to end up on this blog: http://www.bustedcarbon.com/

    Gi FlyBike

I am intrigued by this bike also. It is not something I would need personally, but it is innovative and appealing. I like that it comes standard with flat-proof tires and a belt drive. I would think that anyone commuting by bike would love the low maintenance and reliability of just those two...
