    DPC 18 Battery pages

I believe the data you get depends on the controller. I have a DPC 18 paired to a Bluenergy Bafang 500W kit and only voltage displayed. All other battery telemetry blank.

    Seat posts!

I have a SP-12 installed on my Electra Townie and it is glorious. Smooths out everything. After a bit, I did upgrade to the heavier spring and it is even better. I'm 200 lbs and the regular spring was good at first but after a while it would bottom out.

    Torque vs cadence sensor...

I've ridden bikes with torque sensing and the engagement is sureal. If I was a mountain biker or serous road biker, I'd want a mid-drive with a torque sensor. But for my day-to-day commuting around town a cadence sensor is fine.

    Torque vs cadence sensor...

The PAS level sets a baseline. And you pedal above that baseline. You still get all the exercise but reach your destination faster. If I set my bike to PAS #2, the motor will give me 12 mph assist. The 4 mph over that to cruise at 16 comes from my legs.

Rear hub drive mountain bike recomendations

The trail would be hard on a hub as well. Unlike mid-drives, which are under suspension, the hub would get the full beating of the path.

My DIY builds: GMAC, BBSHD, 9C RH212, CYC Photon, ToSeven DM01, Grin All Axle

I rebuilt my wheels with 26" Sun Ringle Rhino XL (36h) rims. And have Maxxis Holy Roller's 2.4 mounted. These wheels are also compatible with rim brakes should you go that route. I have Shimano BR-T4000 rim brakes on my electric Electra Townie with Clark pads and can lock the wheels...

Bafang 500W Motor Life Expectancy - Do They Burn Out?

I made it nearly 5000 miles on my original 48V/500W Bafang SWX02 motor before needing to replace the clutch/gear assembly. The motor had started on my Electra Townie in 2018 and then swapped to my Mongoose Envoy in late 2019. In August, the motor started getting really noisy in the Envoy. I...

Had to have a deer tick removed today!

I got a tick embedded a year ago. We had visited a friend's farm with chickens and such. The next day... I was wearing jeans in Target and had a stitch on the calf. Figured it was zit. Got home. Looked closer and wife saw the critter. She removed and photo'd as "Stan's tick" and put in our...

Which e bike conversion kit and battery?

I have Bluenergy/Greenergy Bafang kitted bikes as well. My bikes are equipped with Bafang SWX02 motors. After 3000 miles I had to recently replace the clutch gear assembly on my cargo bike.

    Bent rear tire (maybe rim?)

I'd take it back to the LBS. You really need all the gear to get it right. Spoke tension meter. Spoke wrench. Dishing tool. And truing stand. I would think you could get away with a cheap truing stand and you could make a dishing tool. It's easy to goof up the dish when tightening where the...

What shoes do you ride with?

I ride with Nike Shark football cleats. This link show similar but not the ones I have. The gist is that they are stiff. They don't flex and they engage with my Meetlocks pedals for pull and press pedaling...

    Mongoose Envoy

Soon I'll be crossing 3000 miles ridden. Recently, I had been getting noise from the rear hub motor. I pulled the motor cores from the Envoy and my Electra Townie (both Bafang SWX02) and noticed the motor gears on the Envoy were more rounded. This motor had started in the Townie for 2000...

Changing rear cluster for easier hill climbing

A 34t sprocket will improve your gear inches. Gear inches captures the effort pedaling uphill. Granny Gear Inches: Ride Now, Save Your Knees For Later https://bikepacking.com/plan/granny-gear-inches/ And it can get ridiculous. With an inner chainring 22 and a rear 42 - my bike has a...

    Help choosing parts for build

These Bafang SWX02 motors always welcome hill climbing help be that the 250 or 50OW models. We have medium sized hills in Charlotte and they are not too long. I'm 200 lbs and have ridden her bike 13 miles on a charge, but that's probably the most I would ask of it. On flats, it will top...

    Bafang 500W front hub system

The controllers bundled with the Bluenergy kits are not programmable (as far as I know). I have tried with the usb cable and Egg Rider. The Egg Rider console did provide some feedback but wasn't usable as a display and I couldn't change anything.
