    RadRover Odometer Thread

Great info. I'll check the loctite, and I'll read up on chain maintenance, too. I ride at full speed and full power all the time, so I can probably expect a shorter lifespan on chains. But even so, 800 miles surprised me for chain life. And I'll certainly upgrade components whenever I need to...

    RadRover Odometer Thread

Apparently this is MY odometer thread. Haha. 407 now. I stopped by a bike shop and had the wheels trued. Some of the spokes were totally loose, and none had locktite on them. Now they are all tight and true, with locktite to keep things snug as I keep riding. The shop measured the chain, and...

    Rear Rack installation for RadRover

I put on a Topeak rack that mounts to the seat post only. I have a Topeak bag that clips right in, so I stuck with that brand. Goes on easy and looks good, but doesn't have the weight capacity or impact protection that a three point rack does. Mine is limited to about 20 lbs, which is way more...

    RadRover Odometer Thread

Mark is right - the desert thorns are nasty things. More like nails than anything else. I have the Tuffy liners and run my tires at 25 psi now. It's not as cushy, but I commute just over 19 miles each way to work, so I care more about efficiency than cushy.

    RadRover Odometer Thread

1,405 as of 2/6/16 I live in Phoenix, AZ and commute just over 50 miles round trip to work on my RR. 400 miles - had a shop true my rear wheel 650 miles - had a shop true my rear wheel 980 miles - front suspension collapsed. Upgraded to the new fork under warranty 1004 miles - installed Maxxis...

    Would like to go faster!

That's what I think, too. I think it's pulled from the PAS sensors on the front sprocket. Bummer - that seems harder to hack. I'll experiment when I have the time; I'm sure that system isn't 12 unique signals coming from the sensors, so if I blocked/removed half of them, would it show me moving...

    Would like to go faster!

Speed. Not a RadRover, because they comply with the laws, but other brands/models can go faster than 20 mph and that has earned the attention of the police, especially near the colleges around here.

    Would like to go faster!

Can anybody identify where the speed is pulled from? Is the data pulled from the PAS sensors?

    Would like to go faster!

Well, yes and no. It's a bicycle, so if you can pedal it to 30 mph, then that's your top speed. But the motor will contribute up to about 20 mph before the power starts to taper, and then power will stop contributing at 24.85 mph. There is nothing limiting you from exceeding that speed under...

    Would like to go faster!

Right, it is a hardware limitation to satisfy current laws regarding motorized bicycles. Swapping controllers, displays, etc and making the bike faster than 20 mph would make the bike technically illegal to operate on bike paths, bike lanes, etc. Depends on your locale, of course, but here in...

    Would like to go faster!

The power tapers quickly after 20 mph. By the time you approach 24.85 mph, the motor is contributing almost no additional power.

    Radrover gearing

What is a comfortable cruising speed with the new gearing? I generally stay around 22 mph with the stock sprockets, but would be interested in adding a few mph if possible. My hesitation is that the motor would contribute so little that I would be pedaling slower and with more effort, and...

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

Here is some data from my ride... Shows my average speed, and a pretty constant 22-23 when moving, and then my favorite bit - it compares today's speed between certain waypoints with previous times. Lots of personal records today. :) (Link Removed - No Longer Exists)

What kind of Battery Range you getting?

To follow up on this... my bike arrived last night and I rode it 12 miles to work this morning, with PAS 5 and pedaling in top gear the whole way. I was on mostly flat, smooth pavement and stayed a pretty steady 22-23 mph the whole way. With stop lights and what not, my iphone running the Strava...

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

Yes, I'm on flat, pretty smooth pavement and some bike trails, also paved and mostly smooth. Tires are set at 20 psi f/r.

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

Assembled my bike last night and rode to work this morning - what a blast to ride! Top speed was just over 24 mph, normal cruising speed was 22-23 mph, and the overall average including stop lights and whatnot was 19.9 mph over 11.8 miles. I pedaled in top gear the entire way, except for...

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

I'm cold just listening to you guys. It will be 102 today, which oddly enough feels quite comfortable. I ride year round here without issue.

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

I've found the same - too bad the right motorcycle tires are so expensive. I like the VRM 302 Monster, but yeah, also a bit pricey. The extra weight is a concern, too, of course, but I'm hoping to balance out the weight with the superior rolling resistance.

Any RadRover contributors out there ?

Oh, no... I don't want the BIKE. Just the tires. My RadRover will be here next week sometime, hopefully. Just paid the shipping on batch 4. But those tires? Love them. They look like supermoto tires for a streetbike. Smooth and fast on pavement.
