What do you HATE about your fat tires?

Those JJ's will have less rolling resistance than many popular MTB tires (there is a huge variance within fatbike and MTB tires, depending upon the exact tire of choice). This is an issue exaggerated way beyond reality. When somebody posts about a new eMTB with an aggressive set of tires...

What do you HATE about your fat tires?

Sure. And dirt--deep dirt, loose dirt, wet dirt, gravelly dirt, powdery dirt.... And rocks--big rocks, small rocks, slick rocks, wet rocks, loose rocks.... And vegetation--thick, nasty, tough vegetation (sagebrush, etc), tall, thick waterlogged vegetation... And not so firm ground--wet...

What do you HATE about your fat tires?

Cost, particularly the best winter tires. Other than that, none. They are the best tool for the job I ask of them. Obviously a much different job than you ask of your bike.

Winter Trail Riding Freego DK200 Adventure Ebike

Nope. Yup. Offroad where there are no trails as well. E06. BTW, I didn't mean for my tongue and cheek comment to come off as insulting, I should have included a smiley face. My point was that despite not liking that type of bike, I was on your side anyway and standing up for it. Many in...

What's with the recent gain in popularity with the M600 mid drive?

So for $300 they aren't even giving you a BESST tool and the file--they're just flashing the motor for you? Good work if you can get it I guess....

What's with the recent gain in popularity with the M600 mid drive?

Also Elife X from Norway: I think it's funny how every company that sells an E10-based bike claims to have taken part in the design process.... How many cooks were really in that kitchen?

    My UC Pro has arrived

Awe man, you're missing out! I'm thinking of seeing how far I can make it up Olallie tomorrow. Should be fun! I love my SN04! One fly in the ointment of that plan is that it does not have nearly as much tire clearance as the E06 so you'd be leaving a little bit of capability on the table...

Winter Trail Riding Freego DK200 Adventure Ebike

Glad you cleared that up. "The Law" was written.... You know, "The Law," that one law with the power to rule all others.... WTF are you talking about? Do you have any ideas how many laws, rules or regulations there are regarding ebikes depending upon exactly where you're riding in this...

Very true. It was a pleasant 24F during the ride. In fact, I had to hang my coat, gloves, hat, etc near the fireplace upon my return as they were soaked--with sweat!

Bah, you're supposed to aim for the powder, it's more fun ya buch a wimps! Johnny 5's for the win! It was supposed to be a quick spin around the neighborhood to test some new parts...ended up riding about an hour and a half it was so much fun!

    Luna Z1 - First impressions

Sure. I had planned on doing a detailed writeup in the Bafang forum where I explained every little thing as there seemed to be quite a bit of confusion about what some of the things did...but never got around to it. Maybe I'll just post the stuff here and let people ask questions. Yeah...

Those are identical to the stock settings on my Ultra from Bafang/Dengfu. Are you sure you're using the right version of the software? You should have a "Torque" tab--very important! You should be able to improve that quite a bit. The last few rides I've measured right around 20wh/mile--and...

It's an SN04 I built from the frame up. Those are 26X4.6" Wrathchilds. Pretty fantastic traction over any surface. About their only weak spot is when the snow gets too deep/soft, some of the fatter tires will do better with a bit more float, but they're about as big as will comfortably fit on...

Thanks! I spent some time near there last year--Lake Easton State Park: I think Cabin Creek is just across this bridge: Might be time for another road trip. It's too warm on this side of the mountains for good snow....

It's certainly to be expected a tire like the Ice Spiker will outperform any studded fat tire on glare ice. You may have trouble getting to the lake in the first place, however. The fat tires can do both.... :p Those look like fantastic conditions to me! Y'all just need more capable...

    Whoops I did it again...

Probably to differentiate those particular shifters from all their muli-click shifters. Their entire Eagle MTB line--I've got about a 1/2 dozen at various price points and they're all multi. The only MTB shifter I can think of that's single is the EX1 (which I'm coincidentally about to give a...

    Whoops I did it again...

Uhm, Stefan, virtually all Sram MTB shifters will downshift three at a time. They use brake fluid for their brakes--because it works well for the application (imagine that?). Many fatbikers won't use Shimano brakes for that reason--the performance can degrade significantly in severely cold...

    My UC Pro has arrived

Thanks for posting that! I had tried to make sense of Miranda's site a while back and gave up. I wouldn't mind some shorter cranks, but when the double offset Lekkie cranks I bought didn't clear my frame, I shelved the idea for a while. I might be able to find something off that chart that'll...

    My UC Pro has arrived

Yes, if you want to run 5" tires you want a 190/197 hub. To be clear, I was saying the cassette stays in the same place when converting from 190 to 197, or from 170 to 177. Obviously 197 places the cassette 10mm farther out than 177 as shown in the previous chart. Uhm, no. I'm not going to...

Is your battery completely dying--going from working at full power to completely shutting off? Normally with these motors as the batter gets low, the controller puts it into a "low power mode," limiting the power (somewhere around 500W) but still working and extending your range quite a few miles.
