Fancy Soft or hard shell armor (possibly with airbag?) for ebike rider (20-30mph)

I've got a selection of both motorbike and mountain mike armour, and my motorbike protection ranges between hard core dirt protection and convenient dual sport bump resistance. My advice is sit down and have a REALY good think about what you're trying to achieve , then come back with your...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

True wilderness is still a no go over here in Aus , but we can ride anywhere a mountain bike can - because we are legally bikes. Our govt are even spending public $ cutting tracks on govt land because our tourism potential has been recognised. I'd go so far as to suggest these tracks are...

The 8 Best Electric Mountain Bikes of 2024 [Apparently]

Editorial and advertising made a bet, or was it a practical joke for the work experience student? Right now, someone is running around the office naked with a blow up sex toy taped to their nether regions. How much did they pay you, aushiker ?

    Dutch Police not messing about.

It would also be a mistake to think US police haven't already started looking for ways to detect illegal ebikes. This is an interesting article, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC10372360/. They state ebike accidents are on the rise / mopeds are not, yet figure 2 almost looks...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

The rest of the world sees your post in a very different light to how you think it appears. But I'll happily be described as being on a moral high horse - that implies I'm considering the morality, and to be completely clear , thankyou. As for the Karen reference, this may be a cultural...

    Dutch Police not messing about.

The dutch community decided last century to take cycling safety seriously, and now have one of the worlds best safety records for both cycling and vehicle accidents. We should take notice of what they do and respect it, and perhaps you could do a little bit of self reflection on your own...

This is not good, and its my fault

I have a much more compact rotor straightening tool, it's a thin piece of platinum coloured plastic, about $40 each time I use it

This is not good, and its my fault

I'd love to know where to find these mystical objects. ALL brake rotors will warp if you rapidly heat then cool them. Try a 500 m black descent followed by a few creek crossings on a hot day.

    Large duel sport mirror test

Now I'm confused, the duke isn't a dual sport. Aaaaah, I see , it IS a duel sport

    Great plan, poor execution

On a slightly more helpful note, have you considered one of the enclosed chain washing tools but running a solvent that will leave a residue ? I'm thinking that even if you carefully wash both sides, the important parts of the chain are still going to have salt / rust formation. Maybe split...

    Great plan, poor execution

It gets better - you could have done a linkectomy If you ignored SRAMS advice, split that link, and used it to run the chain shorter for the ride home ( on the smallest rear cog ) . Imagine how much fun it would have been to write the case review...

This is not good, and its my fault

sram aren't at fault, it's just that the cheaper sram guides have relatively small pads so struggle to cool off

This is not good, and its my fault

Seriously, throw them away and start getting ready to throw your guides away if / when you upgrade the hub / forks. Big pads + heat shedding technology in a decent sized disk makes a huge difference

This is not good, and its my fault

When it boils, it happens suddenly - and you lose all braking. Usually you only lose one brake, so after a few minutes of terror you can plan B and stop with the other, or if conditions allow just keep riding with just 1 brake. Sometimes, when things cool down you have some braking left but...

This is not good, and its my fault

Yes, they were stock on my specialized levo sl , which is why I know about replacing them / boiling brakes / max disc sizes for different forks etc etc.

Convert normal push bike to ebike, with trailer for 2 kids NSW Australia

It's a grey zone here - if it's possible to switch between speed / power limit / throttle ability , then some law enforcers view that as illegal. It's usually easier ( and less risky) to smile and pay the fine than challenge via the courts over here - but you don't have that choice if someone...

This is not good, and its my fault

I guess if he paid you 20 quid that's fair. But now you've tweaked my curiosity - I wonder if he used those bar clamps on a shimano conversion so he could retain the sram shifter / dropper post connection ? It's too hot outside to go look in the shed and see if my old guide clamps fit the new...

    eMTB Options For 2024

damn, it looks like Onx is US biased . As much as I like trailforks, many of the local trails are not on there ( and the trail cutters don't want them uploading) . It gets really confusing when they use nick names like : take " the rock garden" to " expert ridge" , then there's a new track...

Convert normal push bike to ebike, with trailer for 2 kids NSW Australia

Throttle assisted, so it comes under scooter laws in Aus - illegal in nsw except in a few regions that are running trials ( I think - it's hard to keep up with the pen pushers)
